Are We in Revolutionary Times? ... Victor Davis Hanson
NRO The Corner ^ | 16 June 2012 | Victor Davis Hanson

Legally, President Obama has reiterated the principle that he can pick and choose which U.S. laws he wishes to enforce (see his decision to reverse the order of the Chrysler creditors, his decision not to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, and his administration’s contempt for national-security confidentiality and Senate and House subpoenas to the attorney general). If one individual can decide to exempt nearly a million residents from the law — when he most certainly could not get the law amended or repealed through proper legislative or judicial action — then what can he not do? Obama is turning out to be the most subversive chief executive in terms of eroding U.S. law since Richard Nixon.

“Obama is not the problem, the people we elected to STOP him are not doing their jobs. What matters if you have laws when you don’t enforce them? What matters a Constitution ?”

100% agree. Obama is a turd. There is nothing anyone can do to stop that.

We should focus on the other Congressional turds who refuse to do their job. The GOP makes me want to vomit. The Dems are pretty transparent in wanting to destroy the country. The GOP talks a decent game about saving it, but ALWAYS wilts and turns tail. They ARE the shining example of political expediency and hypocrisy.

Maybe the author knows.. What did Nixon do that JFK and LBJ did not do?

Things have been reported that JFK and LBJ did that Nixon did not do.. like coerced a virgin intern for sex and later tried to pimp her (JFK); and having the FBI and CIA bug opponents (LBJ had 'em bug Goldwater including his campaign plane). They all had lists of enemies.

Obama is so stupid! The question and it's timing is now the story. Obama could have dismissed the reporter's question with a glare and gone on, leaving the reporter looking unprofessional. Instead Obama came unglued like two prostitutes fighting on a street corner in Chicago.

Obama had to one-up the unproffessionalism..............

Every vote gained by pandering causes ten to be lost due to the objection of the rest of his base.

“or more likely the Leftistis would have chosen to leave the rest of us alone and focus on turning their locals into hell hole utopias.”

There’s no way the Left would choose to leave us alone. They need our money to pay for their fantasies. But more to the point, they can’t help themselves. It’s in their DNA to want to tell other people what to do...

Obama’s core is Peggy Johnson from Florida that praised him during the last election...”I won’t have to worry about putting gas in my car or my mortgage...if I help him, he’s going to help me...” anyone from the MSM done a followup with Peggy to see where she is sitting in the Obamaeconomy?

I have said for some time we are in a cultural revolution (and losing).

Now I am thinking a physical revolution (as in violence against one another) may be near.

Yes, we are living in Revolutionary times.

We cannot allow liberty to be lost when it has been purchased with the blood of patriots for 236 years.

Here’s my take on the times we live in:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2890096/posts

This nation has never progressed without the aid of God. We need to seek Him and from Him, gather strength for the restoration of our land and for a new birth fo freedom in the land.

The Progressives of both major political parties are a long term virus sucking the life out of the body Republic.

All but a very few presidents since the Big Schtick rino Teddy haven't been infected by it, and all the rest have spread their disease, either through legislation or better, through a new alphabet agency.

obama is an outsider of sorts, someone who pushed too far too fast, and shined too much light on their very real war being waged against the nation's foundation.

They will certainly celebrate his accomplishments, but not the attention his work has brought.

Romney is a return to their preferred methods, the slow progressive path designed to keep the sleeping beast soundly asleep while they build the cage and wrap their chains ever more tightly.

Yep.

Indeed.

Mitt Romney's role, should he win, is nothing more than to consolidate the socialist gains of Obama.

“We cannot allow liberty to be lost when it has been purchased with the blood of patriots for 236 years.”

That “liberty” -may- survive. Whether it will or not is unclear at this time (although the time when we will know may be soon approaching).

However — if it -does- survive, the national/state/provincial boundaries of North America will be completely changed once the scenario has played out.

We may see something akin to the transmogrification of the old Soviet Union into a “Commonwealth of Independent States”.

Can you say “Commonwealth of North American States”?
I knew you could....

I think you’re missing the point. By doing this - and by Romney not coming out full tilt against it - he drives a further wedge between the GOPe and Conservatives.

Sometimes the O isn’t as dumb as he acts.

Good editorial. I'd like to rephrase a couple of sentences:
If the President can decide which laws to enforce or not enforce — then what can he not do?

As far as end of the year executive orders, he's just shown that he won't be waiting until November.
