(Reuters) - A former Rutgers University student convicted of bias crimes for using a webcam to spy on his gay roommate's sexual encounter was released from a New Jersey jail on Tuesday after serving 20 days of his 30-day sentence.
Dharun Ravi, 20, looking unshaven, left the Middlesex County jail shortly after 8:30 a.m. EDT (1230 GMT) accompanied by his attorney. They left from a side exit and avoided a throng of media that was awaiting his release.
Ravi received a 10-day credit for good behavior, allowing him to leave after serving 20 days of his 30-day sentence imposed by Judge Glenn Berman.

I feel sorry for Ravi. He was railroaded by the gay rights activists. None of this would have ever happened if his room mate was normal.

Suppose you back up your attacks on on what Ravi did by defending what Clementi did.
The deceased kick Ravi out of their shared dorm room so that he could invite gay strangers in to commit sodomy. I guess this sort of thing is no longer prohibited in a state funded institution of higher learning.
Ravi claimed he left the camera on because he was concerned for his personal property. He was attempting to accommodate his roommate while protecting his personal property. He was persecuted not prosecuted.
Ravi was spying, or at least attempting to embarrass, but at the same time, it was HIS room too - and Clementi was bringing unknown men, from outside the campus, into it, for God-knows-what-reason. Doesn't he have a right to know what's going on in his own room?

as far as the invasion of privacy? had someone videoed me either eating a pizza like a pig, or making out with a ‘closing time’ chick, back in college...then passing the video around...I would have beaten the living crap out of him and destroyed his equipment if it was available to destroy.
as far as the dead guy playing for the other team....it is not a pleasant thought...but if those people dont push it on me like they try to do on tv etc....and stay in the closet...thats fine by me....unfortunately this Ravi guy decided that he shouldnt let it stay in the closet. the punishment? I dont know. seems like the school should have dormed homos with homos and straights with straights....
Any school that forces that kind of circumstance on a person in the name of "tolerance" (actually intolerance) has nothing whatsoever to teach me that I would want to learn.
You can probably defend all those actions, but then he went and posted the video online, which shows some malicious intent. I can’t say I don’t sympathize with him, because I may have wanted to do the same thing, if it was my roommate, to embarass him into to stopping his disgusting behavior. Still, just because I can symptathize doesn’t mean he didn’t do anything wrong. 30 days in jail was just too stiff a punishment for it, it should have been an academic disciplinary matter.
The left screaming for this guy Ravi to be deported because he made his gay room mate uncomfortable even though Ravi is here LEGALLY, is a good student and family is upper middle class NOT SPONGING off the US tax payer. Yet the same leftist want a bunch if low life illegals to stay and sponge and cause issues with the environment, and the economy.
uh you are wrong. get off of FR you’re embarrassing with your utter lack of facts. There was never a video, as there was nothing EVER RECORDING. Ravi LIVE STREAMED a three second make out session to a couple of his friends then cut it off.
Again, no video, nothing was recorded and passed around or posting anywhere.
