Ahmed Shafik, who served as Egyptian prime minister under Hosni Mubarak, will be announced as the winner of the country's presidential runoff election on Sunday evening, Egpytian daily Al-Ahram reported Friday, citing government sources.

Al-Ahram quoted a source in the current Egyptian government as saying Shafik will be declared victor with 50.7 percent of the vote.

Both Shafik and rival candidate Mohamed Morsy of the Muslim Brotherhood have previously declared themselves the winner of the runoff election.

The results of the election were originally scheduled to be announced on Thursday, but the announcement was delayed as Egypt's electoral commission investigated charges of fraud lodged by both sides.

Which opens up a question ... Would the moslem brotherhood in our White House support cutting off aid to Egypt's Military. One would think yes, if the money was redirected to the moslem brotherhood. If zer0 cannot pull that off would the moslem brotherhood be thinking of other alternatives? This one here would have to say yes.

Ah OK, libsources. These would be the same type of sources that called the Muslim Brotherhood “moderates”. There is no real contention between the MB and the military at all, just like the contention between Sunni and Shi’a is minor and they always come together when it comes to jihad against the kafir. This is purely for the “benefit” of the West, and it”s something that's straight out of Sun Tzu’s Art Of War . . .
All warfare is based on deception. … Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.
All part of taqiyyah too. The most believable stuff out of there is the chanting in Tahrir Square about going to Jerusalem to be martyrs, what the presidential candidates say in public about tearing up the Camp David Accords and making Jerusalem the capital of an Islamic Egypt, and other rhetoric along those lines.

A democratic or a republican form of government just does not work in Muslim countries. There has never been one, so why would anyone think it can work now.

Self-government can only work among virtuous people. The reason the Roman Republic was replaced by the Empire is that the people had become corrupted, and were no longer fit for self-rule.

The Egyptians have NEVER known the level of virtue needed for self-rule. It is not part of their culture, and has never been part of it. They have ALWAYS been ruled over.

The announcement is late. I wonder if Obama’s proxies are still on the phone threatening dire consequences if the Muslim Brotherhood is not declared the winner?

Could be! I’m on another site...someone from Switzerland said that MB has won, but it hasn’t been announced.

Many conflicting stories.

Someone from Poland posted this just now....

quote:

Dina Demrdash BBC Arabic journalist

says the news conference of the Supreme Presidential Election Commission is only minutes away, as speculations about both Ahmed Shafiq and Mohammed Morsi wins reaches fever pitch ahead of the results. Tahrir square is seeing tens of thousands of pro- Mursi protesters praying for his win. In Nasr City neighborhood, hundereds of Shafiq supporters are awaiting the results. There is a heavy security presence around the homes of both candidates.

Obama may have to say an extra prayer of thanks to Mecca today. Obama has taken a great step today toward the creation of the Greater Caliphate and the destruction of Israel.
