Less than a year after the Defense Department's "Don't ask, don't tell" (DADT) policy toward gay and lesbian service members was repealed, the Pentagon says it will hold its first-ever Gay Pride event Tuesday.
The event is likely to be a more toned-down version of the Gay Pride parades that take place every June in cities around the world—sans the flags, wigs, beads and boas. (Though some have suggested rainbow camo or berets.)
Instead, the Pentagon has planned a somber-sounding panel discussion entitled "The Value of Open Service and Diversity," according to a Defense Department press release.
The event will also have a keynote speaker: the Pentagon's top lawyer Jeh Johnson, who co-chaired the 2010 study on how a DADT repeal might affect combat operations, housing and other issues, according to the Washington Post.

I mentioned something like this here on FR a few weeks back and someone accused me of getting my ideas on homos in the military from the movies.
I spent four years in the USAF and every year we had assembly were read the riot act about homos in service, then had to sign a paper showing we had been at the assembly.
In basic we also had to serve one day of KP at the out processing HOMO barracks.
we were told we would see things unbelievable and we were not to laugh, point or joke about it.

He forced the Catholic Church to stop adoption services after 109 years because they would not let gays adopt innocent children. In MA Romney forced children, starting at 5 yrs old, to be taught about the gay lifestyle. The parents were not allowed to opt out their children.

FWIW No one much likes serving next to airman Gaga, but I haven’t met him/her yet, thank God. There a few homos we all know about. They keep it to themselves. Long as that happens, we’re the military. We do take whole “duty” and “following orders” thing pretty serious and it’s pretty offensive to accuse us of murder. Everyone likes to tell stories about guys falling off ships but it’s always “my best friend’s, neighbor’s, uncle” who saw it happen.

Lackland 1966. Yes, a barracks of out-processing homos. When they went through the chow line some had on necklaces, lipstick, ect.

The word “diversity” is used by the “progressives” so much, I’ve gotten sick of it. Just reading the word is enough to bring up one’s lunch. Liberals have practically made a religion out of “diversity”(steady,stomach,steady).
Not always. I was in 13 years 1976 to 1988 and I can remember one incident particularly because I was interviewed by the NIS afterwards. In that case, a guy really did go off the portside aft sponsor at night.
That one was eventually ruled a suicide and it might have actually been one, too. But he was queer and annoying people about it so the scuttlebutt going around that he was helped over the side.
In another case that made a big splash in the Navy Times, a squid took a ball-peen hammer to the head of a person in his division that had taken homosexual liberties on him after they had smoked some dope together in a fanroom.
Ever occur to you that maybe some (most) of these guys didn’t want to be in the military? Maybe playing homo was a good way to get out? I don’t know. I’ve never seen a gay man wear lipstick. Even in a gay bar. Except drag queens but those freaks aren’t joining the military...it would ruin their nails. We’re an all volunteer force. I don’t know anyone who didn’t know exactly what they were getting into so maybe we that’s why we aren’t full of freaks wearing lipstick to get thrown out. And I went through basic in ‘02. I think maybe my experience is a little more pertinent to today’s military. Since I’m in it. No offense but the world has changed a little since ‘66. We all know “gays” as they like to call themselves. We grew up watching them on MTV, my soccer coach was gay, everyone has a gay friend...mostly girls do anyway, they think it’s “cool”. Most people my age don’t care. My parents may not have paid for my college but they did something a lot more important, they taught me the Bible. So I do care. But I’m a minority round here. But there are some of us here. Fighting the good fight. Preaching the Word whenever we can get away with it.
And THAT was always his goal. I just don’t plan on giving up the fight just yet. Knowledge is power.
Homos make up maybe 2 percent of the population. Of those, I don’t see all that many jumping to join the military. From what I understand, a lot of ‘em can’t even admit it to themselves and either stay in the “closet” (where I’d be fine if they stayed) or don’t choose to give in to the perversion till their mid twenties or even later. I just find it hard to believe that there were enough on one base at any one time to make up a whole unit.

My work friend told me that his daughter and son-in-law, both with over 15 active service, are now getting out. They're disgusted that they will have to maintain a blind eye to the perversions that outright homosexuals will instill all around them. And, by the way, a number of their colleagues are calling it quits too.

At that time (1966) the quotas for the USAF and NAVY were full of volunteers. Drafties went into the ARMY and some in the MARINES.
So these people had to volunteer and got caught within the first few weeks and got the boot.
Interesting note, it was said by our TI that most of them would find a letter from the draft board when they got home.
Same here. Nothing really changed that I can see. People always predect gloom. It bothers me when people say it’ll destroy the military. I’m not thrilled about it, don’t get me wrong. But I think it’s a huge insult to us serving that they think we can’t handle this or anything else without collapsing into tears and anarchy. We’re the US Military. We’ve faced a whole lot worse.
I’m young not mentally retarded. I know which branches the draftees went into. I’m just saying a whole lot of people joined the AF and Navy to avoid combat. And when that life turned out to not be the bed of roses they thought, they took the easy way out and pulled a Klinger. If there is any bright side whatsoever in this situation (and it’s dim), at least wimps no longer have that option.
If you can’t comprehend the logical fallacy inherent in your argument, I can’t help you. The media wants you to believe that half this country is gay. It’s BS. All credible studies point to 2%, tops. Of those, how many do you think are willing to serve? What, and disrupt their beauty sleep? I think your TI might have fed you a few lines for the same reason our TIs told us Angelina Jolie died while we were in basic. It’s fun to mess with baby airmen. There just aren’t that many homos and most of them aren’t bumrushing the recruiting stations...the few who do, probably won’t go through with it once reality sets in. This isn’t an easy life and not everyone’s cut out for it. There are some homos, yeah, but there always have been....mostly lesbians actually. And while they’ll toast in hell with their pervert brothers, they’re not as annoying to work with at least. Heck, at least they’re not always getting knocked up. Most of the homos have been here awhile and aren’t stupid enough to make a scene. The military will stand. We will overcome.
My concern is that in the future there will be pushes to purge the military of Chaplains who oppose the practice of homosexuality. As of now the rules are that Chaplains whose denominations actually take the Word of God seriously do not have to perform homosexual marriage ceremonies. However, if I know leftists if they see one thing or person that stands in the way of what they want they will find somebody who can serve as a plaintiff and file suit (I point to the florist in New Mexico as example). Also, if I ever serve in a command function I may choose not to associate with individuals outside of work if they have behaviors I disagree with (Having sex outside of marriage, constant profanity, drunkenness, etc). Will I face the wrath of the left if I make the same decision regarding homosexuals?
