Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says the Turkish Armed Forces 'will respond to all violations on the Syrian border' following the downing of one of its jets by Syria. (Umit Bektas/Reuters)
The US should have wrecked Syria on the way into Iraq from the (second front) west.
Erdogan can’t deliver. Just as it was in our operation to snuff Saddam, he says something will happen, and he won’t have the votes.
More accurately, the policy he appears to advocate won’t have the votes.
Erdogan, like the rest of his partisans (and Obama), are Islamofascists, and don’t give a damn about the best interest of their own nation.

My first hope would be that they give up their demonic religion and find God, but I my second hope is that Turkey gets imperialistic again, rolls over Syria, and then gets bogged down in a messy Mu-on-Mu war of occupation for the next 40 years.
Are they nuts? Turkey backed by NATO takes Syria out in about 10 minutes.
After it became clear that Assad supported the terrorist bastards killing US troops, we should have used western Iraq as a staging area to roll right over Assad, shooting down his plane taking him into exile, and not stopping until the Hizzies were annihilated in Lebanon.
Bashar al-Assad must be trying to get the nation to rally around him.
Did you ever get to visit Armenia? If so, what was that like?
Even without NATO’s backing, Turkey’s army and airforce would smash the Syrian army in under a week. It would be not be bloodless on the Turkish side, either, but Turkey has armed forces to the tune of 600,000 (obviously not all combat infantry, but it’s the second largest army in Europe, after Russia’s). And Syria’s armed forces would start to come apart at the sectarian seams when the shooting started.
I doubt that Erdogan could use the Turkish army to keep order if his fellow Islamofascist Turks were to rush into the streets to riot and demand immediate imposition of shariah “law”. He’s treated the Turkish army as the enemy throughout his time in power. One patriotic Turkish bullet could have changed all that — instead, the Turkish army will probably fall down and split its pants (figuratively) on the remote possibility that Erdogan manages to get authorization for Turkish intervention in Syria.
Who gives a damn; they are all ragheads, the more they kill each other the happier I will be.
Turkey's ability to project power more than a few miles beyond its own borders is pretty limited.
Nonsense. NATO said today they back Turkey unequivocally.
Could be the start of WWIII in my view. This is major to these countries and likely to be ignored by Western countries. Bad for us.
I agree. Stand back and let the bastards have at it.
Turkey is hated by:
kurds
iranians
russians
the balkan states
eastern europe
armenians and other states in the caucasus region.
Syria would get plenty of help.
Great, we’re going to go to war for frikkin’ Turkey, just great.
