Theologically, the theme of Jesus the Christ being slain at the demand of His own by being betrayed to Machiavellian outsiders is important in Christianity. It has the corollary of emphasizing that Jews matter to Christianity. Jews are indispensable to the Christian story as the special covenant people whose story undergirds and introduces the Christian story. Christians do not say that Jesus the Christ popped out of the eternal godhead into earthly history as a man in a vacuum. No, they say He was sent to be a Jew, and it also matters that Gentiles are outside of the Jewish covenant as this sets the stage for the illustration of God’s special grace in reaching out past the Jewish people to Gentiles. You can’t just toss it all into a Mixmaster and hope to come up with anything logical. There is an order and a purpose to it all.

True, but replace "Jews in America" with "the 'official' American Jewish leadership" and the statement is spot-on.
Why does no one ever consider that the disproportionate influence Jews always have on the world (whether for good or ill) is because of (and evidence for) bechirat Yisra'el (the election of Israel), evidence that they truly are unlike any other people on earth (and thus the true Chosen People)?

I’m sorry (but not totally suprised) that there are still folks clinging to medieval notions. On the other hand there are a lot of Muslim fundamentalists clinging to notions I find medieval.

Yes . . . you "assert" that chr*stianity is true. Chr*stians have been "asserting" that chr*stianity is true for almost two thousand years (or seventeen hundred, depending on whether or not the whole thing was created out of whole cloth three centuries after the "fact"). But this assertion is based on absolutely nothing. Chr*stianity is "true" only because it "asserts" that it is true.
What kind of basis is that for a religion? First it claims that the Hebrew Bible prophesies about it. Then it "proves" these "prophecies" by merely invoking its own claims about them. It reads itself into the Jewish Bible no differently than Joseph Smith did. Then chr*stians have the hypocritical gall to criticize mormons for what they themselves have been doing for centuries.
Ultimately chr*stianity (like other false religions) is based on nothing but sentimentalism and tradition. "This is a chr*stian nation" is ultimately no different from the Leftist revolutionaries' "deze are de wayz of our pipples."
G-d spoke at Sinai, leaving no room for any future innovations. Therefore the "assertions" of chr*stians mean exactly bo diddley squat.
Jews carry an alleged oral law attributed to Sinai which allegedly declares Christianity impossible — the truth is that up through the earthly time of Jesus, Jewish pundits were very very interested in a Christ. Then when Jesus got followers and especially when the message began to include gentiles — all that Christ seeking got a lid slammed on it. Very political, very bigoted.

The film "Inherit the Wind" was based on a play of the same name by Lawrence and Lee. The authors changed the names because they were writing a work of fiction, as they explicitly state in their preface to the play. They mention some of the many liberties they took with the historic events. "Inherit the Wind" was not designed as a documentary - it is a work of dramatic fiction based on some historical events.
You might try understanding better how the doctrines of biblical Christianity fit together before launching your totally ignorant, daintily expurgated-word flames at it. It's not hard to find such works in a normal Christian bookstore, e.g. Charles Ryrie's Basic Theology.
As usual the last thing on some people’s minds are politics and religious voting in America and in this case the subject of the thread.
It is no wonder that most Catholics are naturally liberal voters.
I’ve met and known Jewish converts; being SBC as you are though you may not see too many Messianic Jews hanging around or visiting SBC churches; let’s say on a friendly sunday special contact service the way the local Gideons or a Missionary might visit. You’d see more Jewish converts attending Charismatic or Pentecostal type churches however. The Messianic Jewish movement has some seriously gifted writers and thinkers from whom one can gain some deep insights as to the Jewish heritage of our Messiah.
By the way, do you like my tag line? It came about when I was in a discussion with another Christian whose views are left of center. He argued with me about being more politically conservative and in the midst of the conversation I was trying to remind him about the coming kingdom that Christ would set up and I said to him..”look it’s not about being left wing or right wing...it’s CHRIST WING!” It was a conversation stopper and my heart was suddenly filled with joy...there simply was nothing else to be said!
You didn’t answer or rebut anything, and the facts are the facts.
I see that for some, conservative politics and analysis has no place in any discussion regarding certain religious groups, even though at freerepublic conservative politics is our very purpose.
Members of liberal voting religious groups even on a conservative site insist on denigrating and attacking the conservative base of America.
We do not need to soft pedal our discussions about Democratic groups, we need to discuss them openly and in this thread the relationship of Jews and blacks, and the treatment of Jews towards our core conservative, pro-God voters, the Evangelical Christians, should be a topic of great interest to all conservatives and Christians, and of course, the tiny number of republican Jews and blacks.
Your impulse to launch into personal attacks and to personalize political discussions needs to be checked, you should make an effort to end that practice.
So true, the last 50 years have not been good for blacks or America, signing up with the left was a terrible thing for blacks to do.

Conservatives believe in INDIVIDUALS, individual accomplishments, individual beliefs, individual actions.
Reactionary racists believe in groups, group accomplishments, group beliefs and group actions.
An individual is not answerable for the voting habits of his coreligionists. It doesn't make a conservative who is Jewish less of a conservative or less Jewish.
