I've had doubts about Chief Justice John Roberts for a couple of years now -- doubts that were unfortunately confirmed Thursday by his decision upholding ObamaCare.
In October 2010, Canisius College in Buffalo, NY hosted Chief Justice Roberts as part of the Raichle Lecture Series. The Raichle Lectures are sponsored by the college's pre-law center, and the college deserves credit for booking some real heavy hitters -- past guests have included Supreme Court Justices Rehnquist, Scalia, and O'Connor, and other notable figures like Rudy Giuliani.
I was excited about the opportunity to see the head of one of the three coequal branches of government in person -- especially in an academic setting, ripe for debate, ideas, and insights on how things really work at the seat of power. I was really looking forward to hearing the kind of Socratic give-and-take Justice Scalia and Judge Bork are known for when they visit colleges and law schools.
I was sorely disappointed.

That was sort of my impression of W. Since Thursday's debacle, I've been wondering if his appointment was the success and Alito's was the accident. I thought Bush had at least one sterling, unimpeachable accomplishment, one that at least helped justify all the other crap we suffered during his presidency, now even that one is in doubt.

I guess for government workers or employees of private companies that make it a condition of employment.
For example, I’ve never worked at a place where I was forced to go to one of these classes.
This would be different or a massive expansion.

If President Bush had gotten his way, his appointments would have been CJ Roberts and Harriett Meyers.
So far Alito is the one Bush may have misjudged. It will take a few more critical decisions to tell. When I say misjudged I mean by that Bush in both his terms was purposely making every attempt to stack both the houses and the courts with his beloved insider Liberals. He had little use for Conservatives or campaigning for them. Can any reasonable person believe that this wasn't his intentions as well behind appointing Roberts and Alito?
[eyeroll] I couldn't remember if Meyers was a washout for the Roberts seat or Alito's. OTOH, she may not be a legal giant, but give her her due; I bet if she were CJ, she'd have had the common sense to send this one down in flames, unlike Injustice Roberts. Hell, I would have and I'm not even a liar, er, lawyer.
I did NOT like Bush. For the same reason I did NOT like Nixon. (commie pig acquaintances think I’m lying about that.)
But I liked Bush, for the same reason I liked Nixon.
When W decided it was time to kick mudslime a$$, he did it. He even slipped up once and used the word “crusade”, for which he almost got his head hacked off.
When Nixon said he was going to bomb you, your a$$ got a whuppin. The vietnamese were a little slow to learn that and that’s why operation Linebacker and Linebacker II, along with the mining of the Haiphong harbor, killed so many of the enemy. He cleaned the garbage out of Cambodia too.
But on social issues, aw jeez, he was a wackadoodle nut case. Dep. of Energy, Dep. of Education, EPA, endangered species act....and on and on and on.
Bush, he DID appoint Alito, but remember who he chose first until the great unwashed masses in the GOP got it through his Texican head that his choices were a REALLY BAD idea?
He was gung ho on amnesty and .....
Just like Nixon, Bush left a s!!t trail that is destined to plague the Republic for a loooonnnngggg time.

If that was his plan he fooled me. Until this week, (first AZ immigration and now this) I believed that somehow, by hook or by crook, perhaps even accidentally, he'd done the right thing on his SCOTUS appointments, which helped me stomach all the other crap he did.

Roberts is a drone-—useful idiot-—been conditioned by years in the Marxist/brainwashing schools for longer than most. He does not believe in a Higher Power—in Universal Truths—in Natural Law—the fundamental principles of the Supreme Law of the Land.
We need to get back in control of education-PARENTS—take your kids out of the Ivy League schools until they replace Tribe-like evil Satanists who worship Marx and replace them with the God-fearing philosophy of Locke, Montesquieu, Blackstone, Reid and Kant-—and away from Austin, Marx, Nietzsche, and that imbecile Oliver Wendell Holmes-—who twisted the Court into the present irrational promoter of evil, unjust Law which is not even “Reasoned” anymore-—much less in line with the intent and meaning of the Constitution.
The Marxists use OUR TAXPAYER money to pay for all the indoctrination of your children into Marxist ideology and nihilism. We need to destroy all the billions in the organizations that fund Marxist indoctrination centers. Quit wasting your valuable time watching cr*p TV and reading cr*p books, like Shades of Gray. Geeesh, I know it is a daunting task and HARD but quit taking the LAZY way out. Unlike many in Europe, America has the freedom to control the thinking of their own children-—HOMESCHOOL. Whoever controls the thinking of the children determine the future. We can win—Conservatives have more children. EDUCATE them using the Classics and Rhetoric and get rid of “social” sciences and multiculturalism, diversity,Sex Ed, tolerance, social justice-—all code words for Marxism and filled with methodology to destroy Virtue and fill the head with cognitive dissonance to destroy the possibility to be rational. (it is what happened to Roberts....Yuri B. the ex-KGB on youtube talks about how these useful idiots (unless they are the hardcore evil Marxists) who really are filled with so many lies from childhood, that any thought they arrive at SEEMS logical-—but it throws out all of the Socratic Method.
Worldview is essential—it determines all you do-—don’t allow Marxists/Satanists to shape your children. We need them to be logical which after years of indoctrination/Skinner associations (rainbows/sodomy) it will be hard to dislodge the associations that good is evil and evil is good.
We need to reinsert Christian Ethics—like we had before that Fabian Socialist Dewey inserted Satan who intentionally wanted to destroy the minds of the children in America-—like they were doing in Europe. He was intentionally making them DEPENDENT and GROUP THINKERS and Atheists so that they could create the utopian collective society. Killing both God and Individualism which came from Christians—Common Law and the Magna Carta and the USA.

Far from saving the reputation of SCOTUS, Chief Justice Roberts just killed both his reputation and the that of the Supreme Court.
JR was an ivy leaguer, law clerk, big firm lawyer. They are all about money and prestige, not substance.
Roberts may not have any particular judicial philosophy because he is a statist, a man who believes that all rights come from the state, not from God. Therefore Roberts doesn’t believe in the constitution as written, in the bill of rights or the balance of power in the three co-equal branches of government.
Robert’s judicial philosophy is dictated by whoever is sitting in the White House.

It has been enjoyable watching the higher education bubble destroy legal education. Watching these kids show that the only reason they are in law school if for the bucks by demanding that schools almost guarantee them a job. You go into a profession because you like it and think you would be good at it. If it’s just for the money your toast, well except at the JR type firms that waste so much of our economic resources. Giving a Doctorate for three years of just memorizing something is a travesty. Degree inflation.
