Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (Ras: Mitt retakes the lead, +2 over Obama)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | Monday, 2 July 2012 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 07/02/2012 6:55:28 AM PDT by ScottinVA

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Mitt Romney attracting 46% of the vote, while President Obama earns 44%. Four percent (4%) prefer some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). See tracking history.

While the Supreme Court declared that the president’s health care law is constitutional, they were unable to make it popular. Fifty-two percent (52%) still favor repeal of the law. That’s little changed from a week ago and little changed since the law was passed more than two years ago. However, while most voters still hope for repeal, the belief that it will happen has fallen sharply. Just 39% now believe repeal is even somewhat likely, down from 61% last week.

Ratings for the Supreme Court have slipped since the health care ruling. A week ago, 36% said the high court was doing a good or an excellent job. That’s down to 33% today. The big change is a rise in negative perceptions. Today, 28% say the court is doing a poor job. That’s up 11 points over the past week.

A growing number (56%) now believe the Justices pursue their own agenda rather than ruling on an impartial basis. Also, the number who see the Court as too liberal is up while the number who see it as too conservative is down. The Court’s ratings are slipping at a time when just 22% believe the government has the consent of the governed.

Political analyst Michael Barone writes that even though the health care law survived, the political playing field has changed. “It's not a winning issue for the incumbent.”

"I find it hard to believe that Obama has this much support."

He doesn't. Polling is naturally biased to the left and the 'rats between Memorial Day and Labor Day because it's summer and people with lives are living them outside and not staying home to answer the telephone. Nobody corrects polls for this but it does seem to happen. I'd take a guess that it's about 0-7% depending on the week and the poll. If you want "real" numbers you need to wait until after Labor Day -- but doing this poorly in the summer does not bode well for the 'rats and Big Zero's election prospects and may help explain the panicked call to large donors from Air Force One.

(No, Mr. President, the problem is not that you don't have enough money. The problem is that you don't have a clue.)

“Rasmussen. He’s pretty accurate based on past real results....”

That is who I use, because he uses likely voters, and he polls at a consistent rate across the nation. He does national polls and state polls.

Now that the excitement of last week is over with, don't expect much to happen with respect to the presidential election until we start getting close to the GOP convention (end of August). From now until then, it's the summertime lull. Romney is up in New Hampshire spending the week on vacation.

I wouldn't start paying attention to polls until beginning of September. That will be when the crazy season begins.

Obama’s Supreme Tax Increase to pay for his extreme ObamaCare appears to be having an impact.

A lot of Americans went on vacation this Friday to include July 4th’s holiday.

They wont be back to work until the week of July 9.

Roberts/Pelosi/Obozo probably planned the announcement of the Supreme Tax Increase to fall on the eve of a lot of vacationers.

Most people can’t remember what happened to them a few days ago, let alone a week.

Ratings for the Supreme Court have slipped since the health care ruling.

What in the hell do ratings for the Supreme Court have anything to do with the price of tea in China???

They are appointed for life which means nobody is up for election or re-election. So, why all the polls and surveys???

What I'm trying to say is, who gives a cow pie?

Rasmussen’s chart shows the opposite of his writing. Teh chart shows Obama leading 46-44.

If - God forbid - the current clown in the WH acquires a second term is there any GOP plan to stop the Electoral College vote on Jan 6, 2013?

January 8, 2009
Counting Electoral Votes in Congress
Public Law 110-430 changed the date of the electoral vote in Congress in 2009 from January 6 to January 8. This date change is effective only for the 2008 presidential election.
The Congress meets in joint session to count the electoral votes (Congress may pass a law to change the date). The President of the Senate is the presiding officer. If a Senator and a House member jointly submit an objection, each House would retire to its chamber to consider it. The President and Vice President must achieve a majority of electoral votes (270) to be elected. In the absence of a majority, the House selects the President, and the Senate selects the Vice President. If a State submits conflicting sets of electoral votes to Congress, the two Houses acting concurrently may accept or reject the votes. If they do not concur, the votes of the electors certified by the Governor of the State would be counted in Congress.

IF THE BLACK JESUS IS ELIGIBLE TO BE POTUS THEN PROVE IT SO THE PRESIDENT HAS THE "CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED"

“Romney, so we can have more like John Roberts on the Supreme Court.”

No! No! We need more TRUE conservatives like George W Bush, so we can have more like John Roberts on the Supreme Court. :/

They may be “back up”, but they are still less than 12% of the population. Only a small percentage of that number vote.

In PA in 2008 the turnout in Philadelphia was 105%

2 point lead ain’t nothing. The first recount will take care of that with newly found ballots alone. The lawyers for the socialists can handle up to a 5 point lead with multiple suits and as many recounts as it takes to get the right numbers. Of course the republicans will strongly object.

These polls are worthless. The only polls that count are the state by state polls in the states that are up for grabs.

Well, until the state polls are updated, this is all we have.
