Interfaith event to support Muslims in St. Anthony [promoting Islamic center in MN]

Three churches in St. Anthony plan to hold an interfaith gathering Sunday between Christian and Muslim leaders in response to anti-Islamic comments made at a City Council meeting during which board members rejected a proposed Islamic center.

Members of Nativity Lutheran Church, Faith United Methodist Church and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church organized the event in an effort to show that not all citizens in the small bedroom community north of Minneapolis are against Muslims worshiping there.

"I thought it was unfortunate there weren't Christians speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, showing their support and solidarity," said Elsa Marty, the daughter of state Sen. John Marty and one of the organizers who attends Nativity Church, where the event will be held. "We want to make sure that's not the reality here, that we are hospitable to our neighbors of other faiths."

Last month, St. Anthony City Council members voted against plans to locate an Islamic center in the basement of the former Medtronic headquarters off Old Hwy. 8. They argued that the proposed Abu-Huraira Islamic Center was incompatible with the building's light industrial zoning.

During the meeting, a number of St. Anthony residents asked the council to deny the proposal and said the Muslim center was not welcome in the community. Some made disparaging remarks about the Muslim faith; at least one resident said Islam is "evil" and embraces violence.

Following the City Council's decision, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate allegations of anti-Muslim bias in the rejection of the proposed Islamic center.

In a statement released Tuesday, the U.S. attorney's office for the District of Minnesota said it's "looking into the matter" and hopes to "facilitate a resolution that's agreeable to both parties. If we can't...

Exactly when have you heard a Muslim speak (positively) on behalf of Christianity? Reminds me of those stupid "coexist" bumper stickers I see everywhere. I would be quite happy to let someone else worship whatever God they choose to (or none at all). All I ask in return is the same consideration. However, that is not good enough for radical Islam - they feel they must convert or kill me. They aren't going to convert me, and they aren't getting me without a fight.

Did these “interfaith” self-loathers ever try to get a church built in Saudi Arabia? Stop bringing people into our communities that want to kill you and your children.

The beauty of pork-based riot control is its incredible flexibility. For all-purpose crowd dispersal, shotgun shells could be loaded up with bacon bits. Such “pigshot” could quickly break up rowdy demonstrators without harming a flea, let alone damaging the environment. Tanks could be modified into mobile Chinese field kitchens, complete with a traditional large exterior ventilating circular fan. When the enemy is within range and the wind conditions are right, pork strips would be cooked in giant woks. With the scent of freshly cooked pork everywhere, demonstrators will be traumatized. Many of those pork-smelling fanatics will be barred from their own homes, cafes, and other public places. What Sharia-compliant Muslim wife would sleep with a man reeking of filthy swine? Some will have to burn their clothing and take multiple baths—hardly a welcome option in societies averse to daily bathing.

Couldn't imagine why, could we, Elsa? Is it really that hard to figure out the lack of "solidarity?"

Can these churches still be regarded as true churches or Al Taqqiya centers?

Why?
Why are Christians supporting a death cult? Terrrorists?
Why are they supporting people that stone Christians in Michigan? Here, now, this year, in America. STOP. These people are not your friends. They will not assimilate. They will kill you in the end and destroy this Nation.

Notice that is always the leaders who are supporting the muzzies. Whether it be politcal, academic, business or religious leaders, they are always on the politically correct side. The leaders seem to have formed a club of people who are just full of themselves. Reminds you of what Jesus said of the big shots of his day—the ones who like to get the best seats at the tables and loved to be seen praying in public so that people would think they were good people. I no longer think these people are better than the average person. Give me the first names in the phone book any day.

I hear ya. I am currently looking at I90 and I94 exits to the west for my escape path.

Just trying to settle on South Dakota, Wyoming or Montana...

I spent all day painting/cleaning the current home. It goes up for sale in the next few weeks.

Mobile homes are somewhat in demand so it should sell fairly fast. Those tossed out of their underwater homes are finding mobile home parks are willing to accept their credit issues.
