Disability Ranks Outpace New Jobs In Obama Recovery [OUTRAGEOUS]

More workers joined the federal government's disability program in June than got new jobs, according to two new government reports, a clear indicator of how bleak the nation's jobs picture is after three full years of economic recovery.

The economy created just 80,000 jobs in June, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday. But that same month, 85,000 workers left the workforce entirely to enroll in the Social Security Disability Insurance program, according to the Social Security Administration.

The disability ranks have outpaced job growth throughout President Obama's economic recovery. While the economy has created 2.6 million jobs since June 2009, fully 3.1 million workers signed up for disability benefits.

This is just outrageous! SSI is the new welfare. Unemployment benefits running out? No prob, just apply for SSI.

Fortunately, there's about a two year wait to have your case heard so I suppose that discourages some folks.

Fraud is rampant in this program.

"...Fraud is rampant in this program..."

Boy. I sure am glad they passed ObamaCare, so now we can be sure there will be very little fraud in medicine. I mean, they are writing something like 13,000 more pages of regulations, and hiring thousands of IRS investigators to oversee it, plus all the new people they hire to battle fraud.

I really do feel so much better.

I have been experiencing some foot trouble and looked online for a support to aid in walking while the doctor figures out what is wrong. The day after I accessed the information I recieved 3 emails regarding “how to” get on disability. I was more than a little surprised. It looks like disability is looking for people instead of the other way around. sad.

Yeah, but Obama says that the jobs report is a “step in the right direction”.

You CANNOT make this stuff up!

If the number of people going on disability is HIGHER than the number of new jobs, does ANYONE, even the most rabid democrat think that this is sustainable? Or that people are going to magically get...uhhh..”better” when the economy picks up?

If you took today’s news through a time machine to the 1960’s or 70’s, the people who read it would have to assume that WW III had taken place, and we somehow lost!

It used to be that the lawyers around here ran adverts on tv ambulance chasing car wrecks.

Now they’re all looking for Social Security disability clients.

Government agencies are actively promoting, awarding and praising people who enroll more people for government assistance.

I really do believe Cloward-Piven principles are being followed. I really do.

I think we should all get in touch with our “inner disability” and start collecting benefits. The sooner this rotten tree falls to the ground, the better.

If you turn on Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Kardashian re-runs, or any of the daytime garbage shows you’ll find these commercials are rampant.

Since it’s gotten so hot outside, I’ve been using a treadmill in the basement, I have a little tv down there and surf past these shows looking for something to pass the time.

Yes, it is a travesty. My mom and step dad had lived on it for like 20 years simply for being manic-depressive. O boy...

As someone who has been disabled from birth; I wonder just how many of these people are actually disabled?

8 million people on Federal disability?

thats 2% of the entire US population

1 out of every 50 people is a federal employee, and sitting home collecting disability

Is there a reward for finding diability fraud? this sounds like a target rich environmnet

Government agencies are actively promoting, awarding and praising people who enroll more people for government assistance.

The IRS is in on the game. The "Earned Income Tax Credit" homepage looks like an advertising site for a charity.

So we lose taxpayers and have a gain in tax recipients. Anyone think we can keep going on this way?

“Crazy checks” have been around for years.

I know someone getting one for well over a year because they’re depressed over a friend’s death.

She’s off to Europe on vacation now.

good times...

According the the SS web site, my disability benefit would be $2442 a month. If you have another couple of thousand in investment income, or long-term disability insurance through your employer, you could live pretty nicely.

In California the new ambulance chasers are lawyers petioning the government for a client’s right to disability checks, then taking 25% of their settlement. Several of my able-bodied friends have now “retired”. I should say my “ex-friends.”
