Flashback: Palin Triggers RNC Ratings Spike
Nielsen ^ | September 4, 2008 | Nielsen

More than 37.2 million people tuned in for coverage of the third night of the 2008 Republican National Convention, which featured Sarah Palin’s much anticipated national debut.

Wednesday night’s RNC broadcasts attracted just a 1.1 million fewer viewers than Barack Obama’s record-breaking speech on day four of the Democratic convention.

Coverage of day three of the GOP convention drew a large female audience (19.5 million) — 5.2 million more women than tuned in for day two of the Democratic convention, when Hillary Clinton addressed the delegates, and 6.9 million more women than watched Joe Biden accept the Democrats’ vice presidential nomination last Wednesday night.

RAT talking point. I would go with Allen West myself.

Because Romney doesn't want to be associated with what they consider to be "extreme right conservatism".

Sarah Palin is a threat to them just as she is a threat to the DNC.

I thought Romney was severely conservative. Is that different from extremely conservative?

Why? That's pretty obvious. They can not stand the thought of their candidate being upstaged by a woman who is smarter and a much better speaker. One who has a better record as governor than Romney. At this stage of the game, I believe Romney will lose by a larger margin than McCain did. Maybe, just maybe, hopefully Sarah will then run in 2016.

Jeb Bush- Si

You trust him to deal fairly with immigration? Spending? American values? The recession?

Bushes fooled me twice, but not three times.

Yes it is.

Severely conservative is the talking point of a multifaceted liberal liar and extremely conservative is the way of life of a hard working conservative with conviction.

If they won’t let her speak, perhaps she could speak “off campus” at some other venue like a stadium. See who draws the biggest crowd. Maybe with Allen West. That might be fun.

Romney cannot have a VP nominee that will upstage him, nor a speaker at the convention that will be better that he is. That leaves precious few speakers left to speak or to run.

They will also not allow conservative speakers as a matter of principle, except in backwater time slots that are scheduled to conflict with other important events.

I think Romney will pick Dan Quayle...

THAT was the moment Mr. Benedict RomneyCARE determined
that his Legion of Backstabbers had to rid the GOP and America of Gov. Palin.

Romney for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"
