(CNN) A top adviser for President Barack Obamas re-election campaign said Sunday the president was entirely dedicated to ending the so-called Bush tax cuts for the wealthy at the end of this year.
He is 100% committed to it, Robert Gibbs said on CNNs State of the Union.
Obama signed a bill in 2010 to extend the Bush-era tax cuts, citing the need for economic stimulus at the time, but has since vowed he would not permit another extension.
The tax breaks are set to expire in whats known as the fiscal cliff, a package of spending cuts and removal of tax breaks that will take place on January 1 if Congress fails to act. In total, $7 trillion could be taken out from the economy.
Tax breaks that would end include the Bush tax cuts, middle class protection from the Alternative Minimum Tax, and more than 50 temporary tax breaks for individuals and businesses that have been on the books for years.

Contradictory psychobabble. So we needed it at the time for stimulus and now they are crying for more stimulus but refuse to do what they did before to bring on stimulus?
This is where the MSM / reporter fail us. In any private enterprise the presenter would be brought to task for this idiocy.
And don’t forget the 20+ Obamacare taxes!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
“Taxable” income is becoming poison. We will become Greece, regarding the black and gray markets.
Boy the choice between Romney and Obama is getting tougher all the time. Now when will Mittens start sounding like a President and less like Richie Cunningham? Man up dude!
Panama is looking pretty good, what with the benefits they are offering to expats.
.. Obama ...Committed...
I got exited for a second
I can handle property taxes for the foreseeable future.I live on a small ranch-farm here in Tx. I won’t be able to do some of the things I’d like, but that is better than supporting the welfare mommas and the illegals.
After reading your post I did some quick research on the net. Wow, I am wondering why in the heck I am not already there.
While I am not insanely rich, I am retired and financially okay. I would be living like a King in that financial environment, that is—if I get out of here before Obama and the dems completely break my back. I am 63, so it’s too late for me to rebuild. The insanity needs to stop or I need to leave.
We are going to take a serious look at all of this... it sure sounds good on it’s face. Although I don’t fly well, it would be easy to afford to fly home once a year to visit our family.
Personally, I prefer to stay and fight, but if Obama wins another 4 years, I will be convinced without a doubt, that this country no longer has the gut to be the America that I once knew, served and loved.
Perhaps we will see you on the beach. ;>)
Don't run. Stand and fight with your countrymen. We're going to need every patriot we can gather in the coming days.
what better way to end the “Bush recession” than to do away with the “Bush tax cuts”?
sarc
And like overindulgent parents of a teenager having tantrums, Boehner and McConnell will let him get away with it
That sounds noble but if over 50 million of my “fellow countrymen” reelect obama, they are not worth fighting for
How about you? Would you die for this US Congress?
You are correct, I have taken steps in the last few years to try to insure that my wife and I can do OK. I was orphaned at an early age, and my grandparents raised me on a small farm not far from where I live now. They were both born in the late 1880’s,and always lived a very conservative lifestyle. They both lived through 2 world wars and the depression, and knew how to “get by” and enjoy life at the same time. They told me several times that the hardest times for them was WWII, because they had all three of their sons in it.
Ah yes. More uncertainty for small business and the middle class.
Obama and his Democrat Party are the biggest bunch of idiots to have ever controlled government.
Good for you. Yea, I think this guy meant well, but was a bit quick to jump the gun. You’ll be fine, as long as the society around you doesn’t collapse for some reason.
Unfortunately, if that happens....we’ll be “100% committed” to downsizing our corporation....by up to 20%
F’in idiots...........
Die for Congress? What sort of harebrained talk is that?
In the first American Revolution, only one third of the colonists supported the cause for independence. Of the entire population, only 3% actually picked up a gun and fired on the British.
Nothing's changed. If we're forced to take our country back by means of last resort, the cowards, the takers, and the ignorant, will far outnumber the patriots who risk everything on their behalf.
And if George Washington’s gang had been too bummed out about this state of affairs to act, nothing would have been done. There wouldn’t have been even a first chance for America.
