More suburban Jews turning to the Republican Party
Daily Herald ^ | 7/8/12 | Kerry Lester

Standing at a Skokie Holiday Inn before a table full of “Obama! Oy Vey!” buttons, Anita Ashe and Ellen Warsaw had a strikingly similar story to tell. The women, both Skokie residents, were born and raised in an environment where voting Democratic was as natural for their families as the Friday Shabbat dinners that were a regular part of their Jewish faith. Despite that political history, Ashe in recent years has found herself attending events sponsored by he Chicago Chapter of the Republican Jewish Coalition after becoming “more and more conservative as I read more and get perspectives on the issue.”

But as the case of Ms. Ashe proves, the 'Rats of today are having an increasingly difficult time hiding their anti-Israel policies and prominent antisemitic individuals, even when their historical myths persist.

The 'Rats of today aren't the 'Rats of Daniel Patrick Moynahan, Scoop Jackson, or John F. Kennedy.

Today's 'Rats are more similar to Jesse Jackson, Jimmy Carter, and Robert Mugabbe (who it appears Obama is trying to emulate.)

I don’t believe it’s an affinity. I think it’s the latent Bolshevism that made them see Blacks as “the proletariat”.

It is the big socialist governments in history that kill so many Jews.

Yes, specifically National Socialist (Nazi) Germany and the Soviet Union. Both were virulently antisemitic with different techniques. Nazi Germany was committed to Jewish genocide, and exported their genocidal ways to the Jews in the other nations they conquered military. The Soviet Union had a policy of religious and cultural deprivation toward Jews (and to a lesser extent, other religions and ethnic minorities) with periods - notably under Stalin - of "purges" (in reality, exterminations or exiles) of Jews in public positions who incurred the regime's wrath.

Nazi Germany was generally seen as a "right wing" regime during the era of its power, but in retrospect had many similarities to other more overtly "socialist" governments.

“Many of my friends who are Jewish say because of the Democrats, the women have the right to vote, they can choose,” Ashe said. “And all those things I support, but not the Democrats today.”
Ignorance among the "educated classes" is overwhelming. Sufferage was supported by both parties, but was adopted by Republicans first. And in the US Senate, when the 19th Amendment was voted on, it was Republicans who overwhelmingly supported it compared to a closely split Democrat vote. http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/1920womensvote.html For Adoption: 56. 36 Republicans, 20 Democrats.
AGAINST ADOPTION - 25. 8 Republicans and 17 Democrats.

As to the other issues, unfortunately, many Jews are wed to leftist social positions at odds with Jewish tradition and law.

Agree with most of what you said, but:

(1)[Liberalism] is sooooo entrenched that it may never be exorcised out of the body of Jewish voters.

The movement of American Jews away from the 'Rats has been predicted by many for decades, and we are seeing it happen, albeit slowly, in front of our eyes. The posted article is indicative of that, as is the steady growth in the Republican Jewish Coalition. Furthermore, the demographic trends are definitely toward a larger percentage of the American Jewish community being Orthodox, with Orthodox families having many more children, and remaining Jewish rather than intermarrying and assimilating. The larger percentage as Orthodox probably means that a larger percentage of American Jews overall will be voting GOP in the future.

(2)I think a mandatory draft in the US might move the US in the right direction, including the Jewish communities - no draft dodging this time.

Having lived through the turbulence of the Vietnam era and the mandatory draft, I think you're way off base there. The all-volunteer military, when supported by the administration in the White House, does a good job as is. No need to return to the bad old days.

Sorry. They may, in a fit of pique, register Republican. However, whenever thay enter the voting booth they will start to shake, foam at the mouth, fall writhing to the ground, then rise and in a state of automatic writing vote Democrat. They cannot help it, it is their nature, their essence, their very being. Jews are the first people genetically programmed as Democrats-averitable wonder!

Most Jewish Congressional District (NY-9) in the country and the most JEwish State Senate District in the country, NY-27 are both Republican now. The Democrat candidates were both Jews. New York Jews have voted Republican in 5 straight mayoral races in NYC, twice against Jewish Democrats.

I was not aware that the Jews who came here after 1945 and tend to vote Republican are genetically different from those who came 1880 to 1920.

Thanks for the party breakdown on the 19th Amendment vote in the Senate. I noticed that the total vote in the Senate was only 81, out of 96 Senators (US had 48 states at the time). Would you know why up to 15 senators didn't vote or abstained on such a significant issue?

Again, as I posted before, this "Democrats enabled women to vote" is just one of many historical myths prevalent among Jewish Democrats, helping to create delusional political thinking working to the 'Rats advantage.

Many of these myths center upon Franklin D. Roosevelt and the "New Deal." Not too many know that it was a case brought by a couple of patriotic Jewish brothers, partners in a small business, by which the Supreme Court ruled unanimously that Roosevelt's National Recovery Act was unconstitutional. If not for that case, we might have had government imposed price and wage controls throughout the economy ever since.

If only today's SCOTUS had the vision to see Obamacare in the same light as the 1935 SCOTUS saw Roosevelt's outrageous National Recovery Act!

C'mon, rmlew, calling Bloomberg a "Republican" is quite a stretch, wouldn't you say?

Very educated, but do not know the following authors: Ayn Rand, Fredrick Hayek, etc. etc.

Ironically, both Rand and Hayek were themselves Jewish, as are quite a number of the conservative or libertarian intellectuals and pundits of today and the recent past.

I would say that 99% of suburban, middle class and well to do Jews are (unconscious) leftists first and Jews second.

I would say that you are grossly overexagerating that percentage! Maybe a shade over half are leftists first, but it depends on what suburb you are talking about.

The National Recovery Act banned Kosher Butchering. The Jewish Brothers were not named "Shechter" for nothing.
The same FASCIST FDR regime, under the antisemitic Secretary of State Breckenridge Long, purposely refused to fill immigration quotas and then vetoed a proposal by Cuba to set up refugee camps in Cuba.

Jews who like FDR are worthless idolators.

I did try to keep him off the ticket all three times. (I also voted for the opposition in two primaries and for the Conservative Party candidate in all three elections). However, Bloomberg ran on the Republican line and won there.

I would bet you’re right. The one legislator who was the deciding vote for its national ratification was a Republican here in the TN House, Harry Burn.

Agree with your views. I too lived through the Vietnam era and I think we learned many lessons now being applied in today's military. The volunteer army works well BUT...maybe the time has come for each citizen to do his part, mature in the process and be more dedicated to the society?

This is encouraging news. A number of Jewish immigrants from Russia are trending Republican because the ‘Rats under Obama are reminding them of what they left behind.
