Calls to Destroy Egypt’s Great Pyramids Begin

Posted By Raymond Ibrahim On July 10, 2012 @ 12:35 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | 20 Comments

According to several reports in the Arabic media, prominent Muslim clerics have begun to call for the demolition of Egypt’s Great Pyramids—or, in the words of Saudi Sheikh Ali bin Said al-Rabi‘i, those “symbols of paganism,” which Egypt’s Salafi party has long planned to cover with wax.    Most recently, Bahrain’s “Sheikh of Sunni Sheikhs” and President of National Unity, Abd al-Latif al-Mahmoud, called on Egypt’s new president, Muhammad Morsi, to “destroy the Pyramids and accomplish what the Sahabi Amr bin al-As could not.”

This is a reference to the Muslim Prophet Muhammad’s companion, Amr bin al-As and his Arabian tribesmen, who invaded and conquered Egypt circa 641.  Under al-As and subsequent Muslim rule, many Egyptian antiquities were destroyed as relics of infidelity.  While most Western academics argue otherwise, according to early Muslim writers, the great Library of Alexandria itself—deemed a repository of pagan knowledge contradicting the Koran—was destroyed under bin al-As’s reign and in compliance with Caliph Omar’s command.

However, while book-burning was an easy activity in the 7th century, destroying the mountain-like pyramids and their guardian Sphinx was not—even if Egypt’s Medieval Mamluk rulers “de-nosed” the latter during target practice (though popular legend still attributes it to a Westerner, Napoleon).

Now, however, as Bahrain’s “Sheikh of Sheikhs” observes, and thanks to modern technology, the pyramids can be destroyed.  The only question left is whether the Muslim Brotherhood president of Egypt is “pious” enough—if he is willing to complete the Islamization process that started under the hands of Egypt’s first Islamic conqueror.

Nor is such a course of action implausible.  History is laden with examples of Muslims destroying their own pre-Islamic heritage—starting with Islam’s prophet Muhammad himself, who destroyed Arabia’s Ka‘ba temple, transforming it into a mosque.

Asking “What is it about Islam that so often turns its adherents against their own patrimony?” Daniel Pipes provides several examples, from Medieval Muslims in India destroying their forefathers’ temples, to contemporary Muslims destroying their non-Islamic heritage in Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Malaysia, and Tunisia.

Currently, in what the International Criminal Court is describing as a possible “war crime,” Islamic fanatics are destroying the ancient heritage of the city of Timbuktu in Mali—all to Islam’s triumphant war cry, “Allahu Akbar!”

Much of this hate for their own pre-Islamic heritage is tied to the fact that, traditionally, Muslims do not identify with this or that nation, culture, heritage, or language, but only with the Islamic nation—the Umma.

Accordingly, while many Egyptians—Muslims and non-Muslims alike—see themselves as Egyptians, Islamists have no national identity, identifying only with Islam’s “culture,” based on the “sunna” of the prophet and Islam’s language, Arabic.  This sentiment was clearly reflected when the former Leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Muhammad Akef, declared “the hell with Egypt,” indicating that the interests of his country are secondary to Islam’s.

It is further telling that such calls are being made now—immediately after a Muslim Brotherhood member became Egypt’s president.  In fact, the same reports discussing the call to demolish the last of the Seven Wonders of the Word, also note that Egyptian Salafis are calling on Morsi to banish all Shias and Baha’is from Egypt.

In other words, Morsi’s call to release the Blind Sheikh, a terrorist mastermind, may be the tip of the iceberg in coming audacity.  From calls to legalize Islamic sex-slave marriage to calls to institute “morality police” to calls to destroy Egypt’s mountain-like monuments, under Muslim Brotherhood tutelage, the bottle has been uncorked, and the genie unleashed in Egypt.

Will all those international institutions, which make it a point to look the other way whenever human rights abuses are committed by Muslims, lest they appear “Islamophobic,” at least take note now that the Great Pyramids appear to be next on Islam’s hit list, or will the fact that Muslims are involved silence them once again—even as those most ancient symbols of human civilization are pummeled to the ground?

The author forgot to mention the 2001 destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan as a recent example of the criminal mindset of these fanatics:

They want to destroy them because, let’s face it, Islamic leaders are just too stupid and self absorbed to create anything worth while themselves and they are jealous that someone several thousand years ago did what they cannot do now.

Islam is the religion of hate. They don’t create, they destroy. They know not of love, only hate. I’d feel sorry for them except that they like to murder far too much. They don’t understand compassion or love at all. The only thing they understand is hate and fear.

To that end, the next time a terrorist attack is committed on the US by those of the Islamic faith, we need to nuke Mecca to get it through their thick skulls to cut the crap out or else. I don’t see it happening but if you put that kind of fear into them, maybe, just maybe they’ll get a clue.

Wish I had time to look for it...Two or more years ago, there was a thread on the Elgin marbles, and I got into a vociferous argument from an unabashedly pro-Western bias regarding the preservation of antiquities. The person(s) I was arguing against stated that such treasuries needed to be returned to their homelands, whereas I was arguing the only reason they had ever been preserved and not looted, grave-robbed or blackmarketed in the first place was because Western Europeans had recognized their significance and value when the current inhabitants of such areas were allowing them to fall into neglect and disrepair.

On that thread, IIRC, my remarks preceded the "Arab Spring," I predicted the pyramids and sphinx would go the way of the Bamiyan Buddhas...

We wandered around Egypt a few years ago. There are many pyramids, other gravesites, temples, monoliths and so forth. I believe the only reason the people there haven’t stolen, sold or taken the sites down is that they are too numerous and too large for their simple society to destroy. Maybe that will change under the nobama/klintoon “arab spring”. Unfortunate for all.

Now I don't CAIR who you are, oh grand mufti and great Sheik Ali Babba, that is funnnnny!

"Symbols of PAGANASIM?"

And what exactly would you call that "BLACK METEORITE Y'ALL 'WORSHIP' WHILE MAKING YOUR 'PILGRAMAGE' (HAJJ) TO MECCA?"

islam-black-stone-in-kaba

The Black Stone of Ka’aba - al-Hajr al-Aswad

The Black Stone is a Muslim relic, which according to Islamic tradition dates back to the time of Adam and Eve. Historical research claims that the Black Stone marked the Kaaba as a place of worship during pre-Islamic pagan times. It is the eastern cornerstone of the Kaaba, the ancient stone building towards which Muslims pray, in the center of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The Stone is a dark rock, polished smooth by the hands of millions of pilgrims, that has been broken into a number of fragments cemented into a silver frame in the side of the Kaaba.

Although it has often been described as a meteorite, this hypothesis is still under consideration.

Muslim pilgrims circle the Kaaba as part of the Tawaf ritual of the Hajj.

Many of them try, if possible, to stop and kiss the Black Stone, emulating the kiss that Islamic tradition records that it received from the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. If they cannot reach it, they point to it on each of their seven circuits around the Kaaba.

Historians point to the history of stone worship, and especially meteorite worship, in pre-Islamic Arabia, by many PAGAN TRIBES and say that it is likely that the Stone is a meteorite. There is no way to test this hypothesis without removing and examining the Stone, which would not be permitted by its guardians.

There is no indication as to where this stone originated, but since it pre-dates the revelation of the Holy Qur’an and Muhammad’s prophethood, and even kissed, it must stem from the time of Abraham since the Hajj traditions are traceable to the patriarch of monotheism.

Some Muslims are more willing to believe that the Stone itself has some supernatural powers. They believe that this stone fell from the sky during the time of Adam and Eve, and that it has the power to cleanse worshippers of their sins by absorbing them into itself. They say that the Black Stone was once a pure and dazzling white and it has turned black because of the sins it has absorbed over the years.

It's much more plausible that the Muslims did it, given their history of hostility of pre-Islamic artifacts.

I would have difficulty believing that an officer of a Western army would willingly desecrate a great work of art for the fun of it.

Have they claimed that the Pyramids were built by the Jooos as a symbol of the subjugation of poor innocent Muslims yet?

probably a meteor.

I find it amusing the radicals will revere this from their history but attack anything that is not from their era.

Warring tribes would “wipe out the history” of their enemies as a means of preventing heirs from arrising. This is just the same. My building is better than your building.

These maniacs need to be stopped - DEAD.

Beating and enslaving women, destroying priceless historical artifacts, forcing their repellent behavior on other people, blowing up civilians, etc.etc.

THIS is the Face of Islam and the Face of the overwhelming number of religious Muslims.

And they need to be stopped - PERMANENTLY or their maniacal religion will either destroy the world or change it into a total wasteland.

Liberals AND conservatives SHOULD be on the SAME TRAIN on this one. But they are NOT. AS usual, too many liberals and phonys who claim they are conservatives are NOT, and like Chamberlain, think they can reach an accord with madmen.

History has proved them WRONG - time and time again.
