Confessions of a former communist
WND ^ | July 11, 2012 | Joseph Farah

Exclusive: Joseph Farah admits how much his youth matched that of Barack Obama

I have a confession to make.

It might help explain why I fear a second term of Barack Obama so much.

I understand what Obama is and what he is doing because I was once like him: I am a former communist.

As a youth growing up during the Vietnam War, I was influenced by some of the more extreme, anti-American opposition to that conflict and began to identify with the enemy. I became convinced the U.S. epitomized all that was evil in the world.

During high school, I was arrested in what we called “anti-war demonstrations” that should be more accurately termed “anti-American riots.” Just like Obama, my youthful radicalism attracted the attention of powerful and influential people in the country. I was recruited for full-ride scholarships at colleges like Antioch, known for grooming the next generation of leftists. When I got into trouble for refusing to salute the flag, the American Civil Liberties Union was there, johnny-on-the-spot, to defend me and bring the school principal to his knees.

During the euphemistically named “Indo-China Peace Campaign” organized by Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda, I was give the “honor” of serving as a body guard for Fonda, recently returned from North Vietnam where she posed for photographs sitting in an anti-aircraft emplacement meant to shoot down American planes.

I was recruited for terrorist attacks like blowing up chemical plants by older radicals who didn’t have the courage to do it themselves. (I thank God today, I never followed through on these plots.) I wrote for some of the most left-wing periodicals in America – the Guardian, the Liberated Guardian and more.

And my reputation preceded me.

Even after college, when my views had moderated considerably,

Perhaps at some point you’ll have your own Road to Damascus Moment, and your intellectually incurious outlooks (not you, ASF) will change, and realize that while “birthers” like Farah might not have the answers (although I think Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his Cold Case Posse are closing in on such) on the “Obama” birth/life narrative, at least they’re asking the questions and trying to get to the bottom of the matter. Or are you saying that there aren’t a plethora of unanswered questions surrounding the subject, and Barky’s story is on the up-and-up? Even Maraniss doesn’t go that far.

Exactly. The “birther” narrative goes much deeper than simply the birth certificate issues. That is simply how it came to be categorized, then vilified by the palace guard.

One propagandistic technique of Communists was to infiltrate the other ideological side and act like inbred morons, in an attempt to discredit the Right. Given the Birther idiocy that Farah and WMD (along with MSNBC) have propagated, it strikes me that Joseph Farah may very well still be a working Communist. The Tea Party victories in 2010 and in the upcoming 2012 election are in spite of - not because of - Farah’s diligent effort to make the political Right look like idiots.

Interesting theory, but I guess Obama was the original "birther" since his bio pushed the born in Kenya story for 16 years until about 2007. Hey if Joseph Farah is trying to discredit the right, then I guess Obama may be a right wing mole trying to discredit the left (makes about as much sense. Obama seems to be doing a much better job.

As for me, I believe Joseph Farah has been far more consistent in his conservative stance than any of our RINO politicians. (Oh no, I think I may have just outted myself as a leftist mole by standing with Farah.)

If there are moles on the right (and we know there are), the most obvious ones are RINO politicians!

It must be a shock to the “more conservative than thou” thugs who claim that National Review was subverted by the influx of ex-Trotskyite neo-cons. I’m sure they always thought old Joe was one of their own.

"The “birther” narrative goes much deeper than simply the birth certificate issues."

Yep. This guy's birth and life narrative is more redacted than a Fast and Furious memo.

I take it by your nic that you're a Jarhead. If so, thanks for your service. You do know however, that a Marine is just a Seabee with a light duty chit. . .
