U.S. President Barack Obama leads presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney 50-43 among registered voters nationwide, a poll released Thursday found.

Obama is favored by 88 percent of Democrats while 89 percent of Republicans favor Romney, who leads among independent voters 46 percent to 45 percent for Obama. The poll found 34 percent of Romney backers said they support him strongly, while 64 percent of Obama voters said they support him strongly. snip

Unemployment remains the No. 1 issue for voters overall. Forty-six percent said they favored Romney on the issue, and 42 percent favored Obama.

However, Romney has gone from an 8-point advantage on the question of which candidate is better able to improve the economy, to an 8-point deficit, trailing Obama on the issue 48 percent to 42 percent.

The poll was conducted by landline and cellphone June 28-July 9, 2012 among 2,973 adults, including 2,373 registered voters. The samples were weighted to account for demographic composition, with sampling errors taking into account the effect of weighting.

Pew said the survey has a 95 percent level of confidence for different groups.

He won’t break 2%, and you know it. Many of the people who say they’re conservative have no clue who Virgil Goode is.

However, he is a conservative, and he has positions fairly close to mine.

He’s pro life.
He’s anti-gay agenda.
He’s pro-gun
He’s pro-God
He’s anti-government health care
He’s pro-constitution
He’s anti-big government
He’s anti-illegal immigration
He’s pro-American exceptionalism

In short, he’s everything that Obama and Romney are not.

No one is twisting conservative arms to vote for Romney. They don’t have to do it. They still get to choose.

I would certainly prefer him too. The truth is Obama or Romney is going to win. I don’t know if I should be principled or pragmatic. I still have time to decide.

Sampling was +9 dems.

Yawwwwnnnnn... another predetermined result looking for a poll.

By October, look for the sampling to be +13 or +14 for the dems. Gotta keep boy zer0’s numbers up somehow.

“If you had a converted pedophile in your church, who had only backslid a few times, and you were the pastor, would you allow him to work with your youth group?”

NOPE. Never. He can work and fellowship with adults for the rest of his life, if it is my call.

Again, I support your right to vote for whoever. I am just asking, are politicians ever allowed to change their minds? You answered that, of course, you find his changes of heart unreliable at best.

Obama will reliably do all in his power to push abortion. I don’t think Romney will. I think he will actually support some basic, broad protections of innocent life. His opposition to Obamacare, which he must do or face total defeat in four years, will help a lot in this regard.

Obama will reliably do all in his power to push the homo agenda. I think Romney will support the agenda in a lower-key way, perhaps slow the train down, so to speak. For example I don’t think he’d be pushing test cases to the Supreme Court like Obama is doing right now. (Although that might just foil the whole agenda, ultimately).

I could be wrong on both counts. I am making my best best, and the cards I am holding aren’t very good.

Any poll, like this one, that assumes a 9% advantage for Democrats over Republicans, is pure garbage. It is published only to sway liberal and Roney-hating opinion.

Add to that, the split between Rs and Ds is far tighter than any of the years shown in those previous Pew samples.

No one told us it would be easy, Persevero. You seem like a good, honest person.

Hope all goes well with you and yours.

I would encourage you to hold Romney’s feet to the fire and not be a “go along with anything because we got no choice but to buckle under” kind of supporter.

What is interesting to note about those preordained states such as CA, MA, NY is IF they even become close, it is all over for the big O.

IF Romney wins Michigan or Wisconsin, Obama is done. The fact that these two are in play does not bode well for Obama.

I am becoming more optimistic.

Time for me to get flamed. I have a pet peeve. When you do not like the results flame the poll. Look does Pew lien Dems. Over this cycle yes by about 3. Does Rassmussen lien R? Of course by about 3 this cycle as well. I would also point out the hidden number. Who is best on economy? Same polling firm shows a 15 point swing. What has happened in last month? Bain! For those who quote Rassmussen saying Bain has no effect? Romney adds two new communication guys and is going on all 3 networks. Since he has never done this I wonder what changed... Hmmmm.

Look do not get caught up with one poll or
one polling firm. You have to look at totality. I also look at poll to
poll. If a single organization shows movement from poll to poll no matter the exact numbers.

Flame away.

Don’t pay attention to any poll that just polls “registered voters” and not “likely voters”. They don’t mean anything.
