Ethics Committee launches probe of Dem Rep. Robert Andrews

The House Ethics Committee on Tuesday announced it is investigating allegations that Rep. Robert Andrews (D-N.J.) violated House ethics rules.

The Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) referred the case to the secretive ethics panel, which did not disclose what the charges are.

The Ethics committee said it will take an additional 45 days to consider the matter against Andrews and make a formal announcement about its decision on Aug. 31, 2012.

The watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), filed a complaint against Andrews last November with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), citing articles in the Newark Star Ledger.

The complaint alleged that the lawmaker used more than $9,000 in campaign funds to pay for a trip to Scotland with his wife and two children, and more than $10,000 to host a party at his home in celebration of Andrews's congressional service and his daughter's graduation. The complaint also alleged that Andrews’s campaign made a $12,500 donation to a local theater gala, in which his daughter was performing.

In a later statement, CREW alleged that Andrews directed $8,700 campaign contributions to his wife’s employer, the Rutgers Law School in Camden, where she is associate dean of enrollment.

A request for comment from Andrews's office was not immediately returned.

The democrats have no problem spending money - as long as it's somebody elses.

Every time I see him on the tube I expect to see the weird neck spasm. It's similar to the Anita Dunn darting tongue routine.

My brother is unable to tell a lie without his lip doing a strange twitch. Gave him away every time. Even in his 50’s he’s unable to control it. I think Rob’s got the same problem.

And then there's Obomas frozen chin problem. He doesn't seem to be able to lower it - like someone kicked him in the face too hard when he was a kid.
