(Gov Rick) Perry renews his call for Romney tax docs

Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry on Tuesday reaffirmed his position that candidates should be forthcoming with their tax documentation, finding himself again at odds with Mitt Romney, his party's presumptive presidential nominee.

Perry first called on Romney to release his tax returns when running for the GOP presidential nomination, and in late January, Romney released his records for 2010 and an estimate of his liability for tax year 2011. He has since said that he does not intend to release additional years, as Democrats - and an increasing number in his own party - have called for.

Perry addressed the issue when asked by a reporter in Austin on Tuesday.

"I'm a big believer that no matter who you are or what office you're running for, you should be as transparent as you can be with your tax returns and other aspects of your life so that people have the appropriate ability to judge your background and what have you," he said.

"I certainly think it is inappropriate for the president of the United States to not keep his college transcript and his law school transcript public," he continued. "He should make those available."

Perry ...in January ...

"Mitt, we need for you to release your income tax so the people of this country can see how you made your money," he said. "Listen, here's the real issue for us: as Republicans, we cannot fire our nominee in September. We need to know now. So I hope you'll put your tax records out there this week so the people of South Carolina can take a look and decide if, you know, we've got a flawed candidate or not."

On Tuesday, Romney said in an interview that Democrats would use the records to "distort" him.

Exactly!! This is the answer all the requests for campaign donations from Romney gets. When he’s ready to stand up on his hind legs, he’ll get my enthusiastic support.

I had one commie professor in college and he gave me a D.

Never made any other grades that low.

It's a veritable badge of honor.

Bet Obama's commie professors gave him A's. And, what about Mitt's commie profs? What did they give him?

He had back surgery and had been using powerful pain medications. Turned him into an idiot for a while. Obviously he had no business running for office!

Nope. Perry’s the one we SHOULD have had as the nominee. Thanks to all who raked him over the coals,we have who we have now. Perry ain’t perfect, but he is honest, and believes what he says.

That would be a means to coalesce electors if Romney feels it necessary. In his arrogance, however, I don't think he'll reach out to Santorum. Too much water under that bridge : Frontrunner Envy? Mitt Romney Claws at Rick Santorum in Debate

Right or wrong, it’s Perry’s opinion, and Romney’s choice, Romney will get the issue used against him, just because he is wealthy, whether there is anything questionable in there or not. Perry’s never been wealthy, so he probably doesn’t see it that way. And he’s never played with Chicago thugs, either

I’m thinking that Obama was speaking of the Hispanic vote when he mentioned Texas would soon be in play.

I’m thinking this goes hand in hand with Perry’s stealth open borders. It would be so heartless not to pay for all those undocumented democrats...

Romney's chickens are coming home to roast. He engaged in character assassination and slimed his opponents with negative campaign ads during the primary. So why would anyone expect there not to be some resentment toward him?

If you want to support this ruthless, liberal, flip-flopping creep, you need to learn to live with the fact he has made a lot of enemies and a large number of conservatives can't stand the sight of him.

....the fact he has made a lot of enemies and a large number of conservatives can’t stand the sight of him.

Ain’t that the truth! Ol’ Willard isn’t a very likeable person. And yes...I know I don’t have to ‘like’ my President. But will there ever, again, be a time I trust my President?

Not going to happen come Jan 2013...no matter who wins.

Hmmm. I’m wondering if its less revenge and more prepositioning. There is a fair to good chance that willard will lose. Then what? Sarah doesn’t want the job, and most of the other primary candidates immolated themselves or have hitched their wagons to the willard express.

I don’t see his getting all chummy with willard to be to his benefit. Better to keep his options open. And if on the off chance that Texas starts getting real ornery on 10th amendment issues, Rick might find himself in a position of delivering the notice to quit.

“...finding himself again at odds with Mitt Romney...”

so then... Rick Perry is just like the rest of us...
