FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
MUSIC NIGHT To keep you all in the mood for the music thread Fabulous FRiday presents JIMI HENDRIX
Born Johnny Allen Hendrix on November 27, 1942 in Seattle, Washington. He was one of five children.
After initial success in Europe with his group The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Hendrix achieved fame in the United States following his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival.
He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in music history
Hendrix was considered one of the most influential musicians of his era despite mainstream exposure limited to four years. (click graphic) Wind Cries Mary
Hendrix won several prestigious rock music awards during his lifetime, and many more posthumously.
TRIVIA
In early life, Hendrix got into trouble with the law twice for riding in stolen cars.
He was given a choice between spending two years in prison or joining the Army. Hendrix chose the latter and enlisted on May 31, 1961.
After basic training, he was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division and stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Private Hendrix received an honourable discharge on the basis of "unsuitability" on June 29, 1962. Hendrix was well known for his unique sense of fashion and wardrobe and his Dylan-esque (c. 1966) hairstyle.
Early on September 18, 1970, Jimi Hendrix died in London.

Come on in and dig some oldies but goodies.
Remember, the Canteen is a family friendly place. We welcome the military, our allies, and their families. Continued prayers for the success and completion of your mission. Prayers for your safe return home.

Hendrix might be a great guitarist, but watching him perform was painful! I guess it was the drugs, because he didn’t really make much sense....to me.... :)
Still a GREAT thread! I guess he was an icon to lots of fans!

Howdy, Kathy! I think it’s good to go for a while. John spent hours working on it to make sure! :)
Weather....88 right now and dry. I’ll do my second hour of watering in about 30 minutes. I’m kinda tired of it, but mustn’t let our lawn completely die!
Stay safe on your drive home. 70 sounds like heaven right now. :)

Blunders To Wonders
July 20, 2012
Artist James Hubbell says, Mistakes are gifts. Whenever hes working on a project and something goes wrong, he doesnt start over. He looks for a way to use the mistake to make something better. None of us can avoid making blunders, and all of us have favorite ways of dealing with them. We may try to hide them or to correct them or to apologize for them.
We do that with our sin sometimes too. But God doesnt throw us away and start over. He redeems us and makes us better.
The apostle Peter tended to do and say whatever seemed best at the moment. He has been referred to as an impetuous blunderer. In his fear after Jesus was arrested, Peter claimed three times that he didnt know Jesus! Yet later, on the basis of Peters three declarations of love, Jesus turned Peters humiliating denial into a wonderful occasion of restoration (John 21). Despite Peters flawed past, Jesus restored him to ministry with these words: Feed My sheep (v.17).
If you have made a blunder so big that it seems irreversible, the most important matter is whether you love Jesus. When we love Him, Jesus can turn our most serious blunders into awesome wonders.
Lord, Im so human and make foolish mistakes.
And worse yet, I willfully sin against You.
Please forgive me, change me, restore me,
and use me for Your names sake. Amen.
God can change our blunders into wonders.

It may come as a surprise, but in Las Vega it is noral to find casino chips in collection basket at church services. This happens so frequently that the Catholic Church has a system worked out. Since the chips are from various casinos, the chips are sent to a nearby Monastery to be sorted. They are then returned to the casino of origin
The is done by the Chip Monks. Brother Alvin, Brother Simon, and Brother Theodore.
