It is often noticed that motivation of the grinning psychopaths that open up on unarmed citizens is to be remembered in history.
It appears they have no concern for what punishment lies before them, even the threat of death -- then, or issued as a penalty -- is not enough to deter them, They only seem to want the fame.
What is the solution, then? Gun control is the answer the liberals come up with. Gun control, however, will not stop the grinning psychopath. They will find other ways. Chemicals can be bought and explosives made. Gasoline and proper placement of the fire can trap many dozens. A sword or machete can be used to kill more than a dozen trapped people, and they can be easily fashioned from strips of metal.
Further, let us consider that harming the rights of millions to stop the one or two a year that act out like this, is no solution. It is 'prior restraint', and it is not to be allowed in America.
So what is the solution?
Go to the grinning psychopaths' motivation. Deny them their place in history. Erase their name.
This idea was spawned by the movie '300', in which Xerxes threatens Leonides with annihilation, and banishment from history:
Xerxes, clearly enraged: "There will be no glory in your sacrifice. I will erase even the memory of Sparta from the histories. Every piece of Greek parchment shall be burned. Every Greek historian and every scribe shall have their eyes put out......and their tongues cut from their mouths. Why, uttering the very name of Sparta or Leonidas will be punishable by death! The world will never know you existed at all!!"
Do this punishment for these mass shooters, these grinning psychopaths. The minute their name is known, DO NOT announce it on the news. Refer to them only as Suspect Number (whatever). DO NOT record their name in history books or on Wikipedia or anywhere on the internet.
Banish them to obscurity. Forever.
This will require a great deal of restraint and a truly disciplined society, at least where this is concerned. The news media will need to cooperate. The police will need to cooperate. The good researchers on the internet will need to cooperate. The name will undoubtedly leak out, but if it does, even the common man will need to cooperate and not spread it further.
Deny them their place in history. Refer to them only as Suspect Number (whatever the number happens to be).
Will it stop them all? No. But it will stop a few... quite a few, I suspect.

Great Britain’s gun ban hasn’t stopped the “Yobs” from using edged and blunt weapons. It only prevents good folk from defending themselves.
Could they also refrain from broadcasting that mass murdering maniac’s picture all over the place?
And stop breathlessly hanging on his every word… don’t the jackets In the press realize they are actively encouraging the next massacre?

Why is it that in the previous decades, when life was tougher, guns were just as available, and the ratio of mental disorders was about the same, mass shootings were unheard of? Some would say that those people had not yet been corrupted by moral relativism, desensitized by Hollywood’s fantasy violence and glorification of crime, nor addicted to gory point-and-shoot video games. All valid points - yet one major reason for this hardly gets any notice. I mean, of course, the dehumanizing effect of the so-called “progressive” education.
The truth is that the radical “progressive” ideology (a broad term embracing many offshoots of Marxism) dehumanizes people more effectively than any violent point-and-shoot video game ever could. It pits various groups of people against one another by cultivating envy and grievances that are mostly imaginary and second-hand. In the politically correct book of “progress,” man is no longer judged by the content of his character - but by the color of his skin, class, income, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other secondary attribute. The trick is that when a secondary attribute becomes the primary one, man loses his unique individuality and becomes a mere social function, a drone in a collective, a peg in the machine, a sacrificial animal on the altar of “progress.”
“Progressivism” remains more or less benign as long the nation on which it exists like a parasite remains wealthy. But as soon as the wealth is squandered and there are no surpluses left to redistribute, human sacrifice begins.
Noticed many are trying to take the advice offered by you Laz. While it maybe would be good idea to not identify the perp or perps, it is necessary to do the investigation. The media is terrible, these days, in doing investigations thus it is left to people like you, others, and I. The police do fail sometimes to recognize things and this forum (imho) does help to find things the police either misidentify or miss entirely. Still backing away Laz, though I sincerely do understand your sentiment. Will go with last comment.
