Sanctions handed down by the NCAA to Penn State and its football program.
$60 MILLION FINE
The NCAA imposed this because it is roughly equivalent to a year of gross revenue from the football program. It will be paid over a five-year period. The money will go to an endowment for "programs preventing child sexual abuse and/or assisting the victims of child sexual abuse." The NCAA specified that Penn State cannot cut other sports programs or scholarships to pay this penalty.
LOSS OF BOWL REVENUE
The Big Ten announced that Penn State's cut of the conference's shared bowl revenue - it estimates about $13 million over four years - will instead be donated to "established charitable organizations in Big Ten communities dedicated to the protection of children."

I suspect Penn State will now focus on other sports, like Basketball, to try to build up their brand name, while the football team is in the wilderness.
I was watching video of the Illinois game when Paterno coached his last game, and PSU won when a last-second FG attempt by the Illini clinked the crossbar, and the fans went delirious and Joe, for the time being, became the winningest coach.....and thinking, if somebody told them that within a few months, the Sandusky news would break, Paterno’s reputation would be ruined, and soon he would be dead, and the NCAA would slap PSU with the harshest sanctions ever, outside of the Death Penalty, they would have, rightly, thought you were on drugs or you were an agent of Satan.
All I can say is that I always oppose liberal forced charities.
Oh I’m sure they’ll show up for the first few games out of defiance, but once they get pummeled by 50+ by the likes of Temple, that will change.

It certainly wasn’t fair to Sandusky’s young victims, was it? And that sacred program that you don’t want to punish furnished to Sandusky the opportunity, the bait, the venue, and the protection.
If a company has bad bosses, people will lose their jobs, unfortunately when the company goes under, that’s life.
I read an article about that just the other day, in anticipation of the NCAA ruling on Penn State. Anyone (like me) who thought corruption in college football was a recent development might be surprised to see that it was a problem even back in the 1930s.
I don’t think she needs to worry about anything. The NCAA made sure to keep this penalty confined to the football program (from an athletics standpoint), and if she’s worried about the school’s tarnished reputation she should see this as a good lesson in life.
They also have a dominant women’s volleyball program. I wonder how that program will be affected by all this?
Those sanctions are collective mass punishment that adversely affect people who had nothing to do with the crime — a typical approach of leftists, who are trying the same thing with gun ownership. The sanctions are an attempt to change a sports-loving culture. While our society may sometimes unduly worships sports,the powers-that-be have no business trying to change our culture, as distinguished from punishing criminal wrongdoing.
Hard to imagine a 100,000+ seat stadium lying dormant like that.

Pedophile State are not being fined because they have a lot and someone covets their endowment. They are being forced to make restitution because they did something wrong.

Temple’s program has come a long way. Saw them play PSU dead-even last fall at the Linc in Philly. They are building a nice program there.

Fund "research" programs, "out reach" programs, "raise awareness", and provide "therapy" to victims.
In other words, it's an employment project for out of work libs with useless sociology degrees.
A truly pathetic component of the sanction, and one that is being heralded by all the wrong people.
