James Holmes Spitting At Correction Officers, Forcing Use of Spit Guard
abc News ^ | July 24, 2012 | RUSSELL GOLDMAN

Accused movie theater gunman James Holmes is spitting at jail officers so frequently that at one point he was made to wear a face guard, sources told ABC News.

Holmes' odd behavior was first seen by the public when he appeared in court Monday looking dazed, alternately bug-eyed and nodding with his eyes closing.

But ABC News has learned that his loopy court appearance was just one of several bizarre behaviors.

In the hours after his arrest Friday for the massacre at the Aurora, Colo., movie theater, Holmes stared at the wall in the Arapahoe Police Headquarters with his eyebrows twitching.

Holmes told police he was the fictitious Batman villain, the Joker, and when cops put evidence bags over his hands to preserve traces of gunpowder residue, he pretended the bags were puppets, law enforcement sources told ABC News affiliate KMGH-TV in Denver.

Since being held in the Arapahoe County Jail, Holmes has been spitting at the officers so much, they are forced to use a spit guard on Holmes when they have to move him.

100mg of vicodin a) isn’t a lot and b) doesn’t make people go crazy

I presume they’ve done brain scans on him.

Planning the thin so far in advance rules out the “short-term snap” theories such as “he was having a manic bout”.

ABC trying to help Holmes build an insanity plea.

Personally I don’t care if he is crazy or not. Anyone who kills 12 people needs to be executed, even if he is a raving lunatic who has to be strapped to the gurney in a Strait jacket.

Here's one pill.

500mg acetaminophen, 5mg hydrocodone. I'm not understanding exactly what they are saying he took. 1/5 of one of these? Not hardly. Color me confused.

He chose and decided to perform this evil. Premeditated to the max. Death penalty sentence—anything less is injustice.

In fact executing “lunatics” that perform mass murder as a matter of practice would very likely “cure” those on the fringes...before they went off the deep end.

My grandfather-in-law was a one time NYC cop. I know what he would have told this turd bird after an “accidental” stair fall:

'Consider yourself lucky this time. Because the next time you spit might be after you've grown a new face.'

When someone takes Vicodin, it is noted by the amount of hydrocodone (typically 5mg, 7.5mg, or 10mg), not the acetaminophen content.

If he took “100mg of Vicodin”, it is meant that he took 100mg of hydrocodone (twenty of the weaker 5mg pills you posted a pic of, or ten of the stronger variety). It would knock a horse out, but not necessarily someone with a tolerance stemming from years of abusing the drug.

From what I heard about his academics, this guy is a natural-born brain expert that lost his way on Rx drugs. The reported 100mg of Vicodin he took before DRIVING implies a very high tolerance. In some individuals, these opiates can actually cause mania and psychosis.

We know that he was “found” with 100mg of Vicodin in his possession at the time of his arrest but we don’t really know yet if he had taken any prior, live alone 100mg which would be in most cases a fatal amount for many people and or even “if” he was a regular user of that drug. Even for a hard core user/abuser, 100mg of Vicodin taken all at once would render most unconscious in a short time.

I’m pretty confident that the police drew blood after his arrest to see what drugs he might have been on, so time will tell. And they will figure out where and from whom he got the Vicodin. (This perhaps being the very legitimate reason the police requested and were granted a seal from the judge on their search warrants).

I think it may have been part of his “big plan”; plant explosive in his apartment, time loud music to start prior to when the movie and his shooting rampage would start, hoping that someone would call the police and try to enter his apartment and that the resulting explosion would draw all the 1st responders to that scene thusly diverting all their attention from the movie theater and if he were shot and or injured during his getaway, he had a stash of pain killers on hand in case he needed them.

I think in his highly twisted and delusional mind, he thought he was actually going to make a getaway only to strike again somewhere later.

Opiate addiction often starts with unnecessary prescriptions written for the above reasons. I've seen these legal heroins prescribed for things like mole and wisdom teeth removals. Often ruining very good people as they surrender to the pills and send all their remaining assets to big pharma. They are the true cartels. Since 2008, addiction and injury rates from Rx opiates alone have exceeded that of ALL illegal drugs combined!

BS. Millions of people are prescribed pain killers by responsible doctors for short term pain relief of seriously painful conditions or post surgical. And the vast majority never ends up having addictions or accidents or go psycho as a result. The few people who are prone to or likely to abuse legally prescribed drugs are just as likely to use alcohol or illegal drugs.

I had a severely impacted wisdom tooth along with and infected molar removed back in the early ‘80’s and thank God for pain Rx; I recall it was Percocet – pretty much the same thing as Vicodin. I didn’t take the whole Rx and flushed the unused pills down the toilet but I was very grateful to have had them that first 48 hours, after the Novocain and the effects of sedation wore off, the pain was excruciating and unbearable before I finally broke down and took the pain meds. I have lower back problems, herniated disk and most of the time I deal with the pain and spasms, use core strengthening exercises and stretching and heat pads to deal with it but every once and a while it get so bad that I really I need pain meds and muscle relaxers.

The very few who abuse Rx drugs is not a reason to keep people with legitimate needs from getting them from responsible doctors. Yea, “big pharma” is to blame in all this …./sarcasm

Tell me all about the evils of “big pharma” when you have to undergo surgery without anesthesia and or have to deal with severe pain post surgical.

While doing an internet search I noticed Holmes has that stare in his eyes just like Richard Speck, the mass murderer of Chicago nurses in 1966.

If the Tylenol didn’t send you into liver failure first. And 100 mg hydrocodone would make even most tolerant people a little sleepy. I don’t buy it. Folks that are tolerant to high dose narcotics don’t waste their time on vicodin. To build the tolerance you would die of liver failure first

Ok, then that's like Loritab. My Rx is for 10mg. My pain has to be severe for me to tolerate it otherwise one pill will make me sick. Most always, I break them in half.
