U.S. murders 13,636. Hands and feet: 801. Assualt Rifles: less than 348.
So, because this particular type of gun, which any rational person would admit is amoung the most Constitutionaly protected because of its suitablility for militia use, must be banned because they are extremely rarely used to commit murder.
The "progressives" are superbly adept at lying to themselves.

An AR15 looks like an Assault rifle but it is not one. It can not be made into full auto. We must bow to the tyranny of the minority. Someone got fat so we must ban what ever junk science a person in power subscribes to. Someone might get their feeling hurt so the majority must suffer. Liberals love to stick their finger of selfrichousness into the eye of the majority.

We private 2nd Amendment advocates, NRA, GOA, etal had better be ready to push back because this Aurora, CO incident and Scalia’s comments are going to precipitate the biggest, most extreme push by the left for gun/ammo control/confiscation that we’ve seen. We’ve got to fight back.

We must not forget, it is 13 lives. Didn’t 24 of Holder’s people kill each other in Chicago that day as well?

I own a so called assault rifle. It is semiautomatic, clip fed, although I do not have any large capacity clips. One shot, one kill, I don't see a need for one. The main reason it is classified as a so called assault rifle is that it has a fixed bayonet. To the moron who wrote the article.... a “fixed” bayonet is a large knife that is physically affixed to the rifle. So THIS rifle is considered REALLY, REALLY dangerous because it is also a KNIFE!!!
Idiots who know NOTHING about guns should not write articles about them.

ALL OF THEM!

Behind the scenes to this anti gun reaction is the US Pharmaceutics industry. What all these shooters share is they all are on psychotropic drugs. Anti depression drugs as well as behavioral controlling drugs are common amongst all these shooters. No drug is fully tested, and when used in a large population, someone among them will react adversely to it. Holmes was treated with drugs for behavioral issues and he had a bad reaction and became violent. Eliminating guns will not stop the homicidal act by these drugged up individuals. If they don’t kill massively they simply stalk the streets and killing their victims one by one in a serial manner. The terror will not be in hours but in weeks over a wide area. Problem is perscription drugs, not guns. Look carefully and you will see big Pharma is also funding and lobbying gun control to take the attention off their violence inducing drugs.

In America, acquiring a lethal assault rifle is almost as easy as picking up a buttered popcorn at the movies. Other than the Federal background check. And aren't all firearms lethal?
What a stupendously idiotic statement. It sets the tone for the entire article.

Interesting article
As has been pointed out an AR-15 clone is not an assault rifle, it is a semi-automatic.
Second, maybe the author is right, maybe popcorn at the movie theater should require a national background instant check to purchase. I mean about 2/3rds of the US adult population is either overweight or obese and with a national health care plan that means that their medical expenses are public taxpayer expenses. So, yes, lets require everyone who buys movie popcorn to go through an instant background check to find out if they have been exercising, if they are overweight and/or if they have any medical conditions that would not be helped by a large helping of buttered popcorn. (/sarcasm)
Seriously, the right to keep and bear arms is a God given right that our US Constitution (and several State Constitutions) affirms.

U.S. murders 13,636.
Wonder what the demographic breakdown is for that?
