This is a very important win. Bravo Ted Cruz! Bravo Texas!
The LSM and the GOP-e are shaking in their boots. This is a glimpse at the new GOP.
The GOP-e in Texas- Rick Perry, Kay Bailey, the Bush family (except for George P who endorsed Cruz) all endorsed the establishment candidate who lost in a huge landslide.
The Tea Party, Sarah and Todd Palin, Rush, Mark Levin, Hannity, and other conservatives supported Ted Cruz.
The Tea Party is alive and well, Sarah’s endorsements count, and the US Senate will have a brilliant true conservative come next year.
Too bad he can never be POTUS, but he can be a shining star in the Senate.
Besides the stuff you know about there is this:
It was also a very bad night for squishy Republicans, like House Speaker Joe Straus. And a downright miserable one for Mr. Straus own state senator, the newly-defeated Jeff Wentworth.
The Texas Legislature has been vastly improved with this primary election cycle, and last night only cemented conservative gains. Of the state legislative races, the biggest run-off news was conservative-champion Dr. Donna Campbell defeating liberal incumbent Jeff Wentworth by a two-to-one margin.
One quick lesson for Republicans in the Texas House: the closer they stand to Speaker Straus and his henchmen like State Reps. Charlie Geren and Jim Keffer the more likely they are to lose.
Two more Straus committee chairmen (Sid Miller and Chuck Hopson) lost re-election, joining the three Straus chairs who lost in the first round of primary voting.
In the open-seats, Straus-friendly candidates fell like flies.
A bit of explanation is in order here I think.
Two sessions ago the Texas House of Representatives was a closely divided body with 76 Rs and 74 Ds. The speaker of that body, a staunch conservative though somewhat heavy handed in his leadership style man named Tom Craddick was ousted when a number of supposed Rs conspired with the minority Ds to elect a RINO named Joe Straus as speaker and thus the house has since labored under the leadership of a speaker elected largely by the minority party there.
EVERY ONE of the Rs who were a party to that have now had their hats handed to them by the voters in their districts!
Bigun,
What a great night in Texas. I don’t think a lot of Freepers
realize the RINO Bloodbath that happened in Texas.
Texas Roadkill!
Sorry about my odd reply to you last night (calling you “my Friend”)—I mistook you for another JohnD who I know.
It was still a good night for Cruzing, though! :-)
But will all that be enough to dump Straus in January as Speaker ?
That is the $64,000,000 question for sure.
I know for sure that MY rep is on notice!
Is yours?
There was a VERY big message sent and most are pretty adept a reading TEA leaves!
I’m in Tennessee, so I don’t have a say... I’m just appalled in a state with a 2/3rds GOP legislative majority that it is held hostage by liberal RINOs.
I went to the one on Columbia Ave. Couldn’t get in and had to be somewhere else.
I’m voting for Zach Poskevich. And since we’ve been redistricted into the new 65th, I’m going with Young. He’s a Franklin boy.
I’m not up on TX politics, but I’d have to think that regardless of where you are, embracing anything your voters reject this thoroughly is a stupid move.
And Perry had to know from the internals that his LT was in the deepest, darkest of poop. There’s no way this blowout was a total left field shock to them. It seems more likely to me that he is ‘bitterly clinging’ to his old TTC old biy network and is perfectly willing to ride it straight to hell with the rest of them.
Overall it seems to be the same result as the 10 election. The old guard refuses to give in regardless of the cost. And the people have other ideas. I know a lot of people think Perry is a conservative, and yes, he has several conservative positions. But he’s GOP first and Conservative whenever.
If you were for Cruz you are my friend...God Bless
Based on your posts...can we conclude you are not a native American?
Just curious.......
Thanks-
I’m not sure what you mean. I was born in the U.S. and am not Indian(native American).
Your manner of speech seems to paint you into an immigrant corner.
You not understanding what I said in my post...paints you that way also.
Maybe you are just a youngster,....and or naive.
Time will tell...........
I’m not young, not an immigrant unless Louisiana suddenly seceded and not naive. I don’t think I’ve ever responded to a post of yours either.
I’m not certain you’re intending these posts for me.
ETA: I haven’t responded to you until tonight.
What’s up?
FWIW-
I’m not sure what you’re getting at. You responded to a post of mine that’s days old. I’m confused about the context of your post. I’m a conservative guy from Louisiana and am merely trying to be clear on a message board. If I spoke with you I suppose it would sound different than how I type. It would be more colloquial.
You’ve piqued my curiosity as to what you think I am. Please tell me.
Are you still upset about LSU vs OU 2003? :)
