Liberal profs admit they’d discriminate against conservatives in hiring, advancement

......................Psychologists Yoel Inbar and Joris Lammers, based at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, surveyed a roughly representative sample of academics and scholars in social psychology and found that “In decisions ranging from paper reviews to hiring, many social and personality psychologists admit that they would discriminate against openly conservative colleagues.”

This finding surprised the researchers. The survey questions “were so blatant that I thought we’d get a much lower rate of agreement,” Mr. Inbar said. “Usually you have to be pretty tricky to get people to say they’d discriminate against minorities.”

One question, according to the researchers, “asked whether, in choosing between two equally qualified job candidates for one job opening, they would be inclined to vote for the more liberal candidate (i.e., over the conservative).”

More than a third of the respondents said they would discriminate against the conservative candidate. One respondent wrote in that if department members “could figure out who was a conservative, they would be sure not to hire them.”

Mr. Inbar, who volunteered for the Obama campaign in 2008, cautions that the finding reflects only what respondents said they would do — not necessarily what they actually would do in real life......................

....Harvey Mansfield, a conservative professor of government at Harvard University, argues that the anti-conservative bias is real and pronounced. He says conservatism is “just not a respectable position to hold” in the academy, where Republicans are caricatured as Fox News enthusiasts who listen to Rush Limbaugh.

Beyond that, conservatives represent a distinct minority on college and university campuses. A 2007 report by sociologists Neil Gross and Solon Simmons found that 80 percent of psychology professors at elite and non-elite universities are Democrats.....

LOL - The researchers made the questions 'so blatant' becausethey didn't want to know the true extent of hatred and bias for conservatives. In other words, they tried to taint their own study.

I wonder how the staff at the average newspaper would do on this.. as if I didn't know...

We know what they’d do in real life because there are few conservative college professors... even fewer conservative journalists. Any place liberals have control they discriminate against conservatives.

Well yes, of course. I was just laughing at the notion that the answers people give in these “studies” cannot be extrapolated to what they would do in real life - because there are entire academic ‘disciplines’ where ALL THEY DO is ask people questions and attempt to extrapolate them to what people do in real life - sometimes with the most tenuous basis - as with the example I cited.

Usually liberals discriminate against conservatives because they think conservatism and conservatives are evil malicious and greedy - while generally conservative think liberals and liberalism is ill advised, blindly idealistic, foolish and ignorant. We don’t (generally) think they are bad people - they just have bad ideas that don’t actually work.

If you add 'stupid' it's the same excuse used for prejudice against blacks, women etc.... I assume you just forgot to mention that - it's one of the common things liberal say...

allmendream the haters are always the same - and how they hate is the same. Every few generations they change victims. It's Irishmen, blacks, Jews, women, conservatives, traditional Americans, Christians... the hate's the same - just new victims... Liberal elites use the same tactics - use almost the same words - and as usual they fear the people they don't know which dehumanize us in their eyes.

My suggestion is for elites to hire a few conservatives - on campus and in newsrooms - before they start loading us on trains for concentration camps... because that is what happens when this is followed to it's logical extreme.

Well usually stupidity can be excused - and the liberal intelligentsia seem to think the evil greedy malicious smart conservatives have the stupid trailer park conservatives fooled into voting ‘against their interests’ via idiotic slogans and such (see “What’s the matter with Kansan” and other such drivel).

So when hiring (or not) a fellow college professor in their filed who might be conservative - I doubt if they would think the person was stupid - just greedy and evil.

His work in the field may be acknowledged as brilliant - thus getting him in the door - but when they talk to him and figure out that he is conservative; well he must be EVIL!!!!

Conservatives tend to go more for the Reagan idea that...

“Well, the trouble with our liberal friends is
not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”
