7 dead in Oak Creek temple shooting

Police said that seven people are dead in a shooting at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek Sunday morning.

Greenfield Police Chief Brad Wentland said four people were deceased inside and three people deceased outside the Sikh Temple, 7512 S. Howell Ave. That is located just south of Rawson Avenue.

The shooting took place around 10:20 a.m.

Governor Walker statement on Oak Creek incident

MADISON - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker released a statement Sunday regarding the fatal shooting in Oak Creek.

It reads: "While the situation in Oak Creek continues to develop rapidly, we are working with the FBI and local law enforcement. I became aware of the situation late this morning and continue to receive updated briefings.

"Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, as we all struggle to comprehend the evil that begets this terrible violence.

"At the same time, we are filled with gratitude for our first responders, who show bravery and selflessness as they put aside their own safety to protect our neighbors and friends.

"Tonette and I ask everyone to join us in praying for the victims and their families, praying for the safety of our law enforcement and first responder professionals and praying for strength and healing for this entire community and our state."

Thanx for the update. I wish we could all wait for a good deal more info before placing blame. Too many here, not you, have called out Muslims with no more evidence than DUs are now blaming the Tea Party. Let’s wait for info and pray for the dead, wounded, and their families.

Yes, Muslims don’t have much use for Sikhs. Look at the posts here. Good grief. Don’t people remember that after 9/11, one of the only persons murdered was a Sikh (I think in Texas, but not sure)? Apparently because he was wearing a turban, and he “looked like” an Arab Muslim.

The bomb belt seems to indicate they are Islamic suicide bombers. Looks like the poster is confused between Sikhs and Muslims, thinking they are the same. His implicit message seems to be that we should not feel too bad about what happened to the Sikhs since they must be Islamic extremists sympathetic to terrorism.

This is so sad... Sikhs are wonderful people ready and willing to defend ANYONE if the situation arises. I hope we can find the truth behind whatever spin gets laid on this...
