The shootings happened at about 10:00 a.m. at the Sikh Temple, on the 7500 block of South Howell Avenue in Oak Creek.

“An officer arrived on scene. He engaged an active shooter. The officer was shot multiple times. He has been transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive,” said Wentlandt. “The shooter was put down.”

Pictures from Chopper 4 showed at least four people who were shot, though Oak Creek Police did not confirm those reports.

One witness told Newsradio 620 WTMJ’s Dan O’Donnell that at least one, possibly four gunmen were hiding inside the temple after they started shooting.

From a story posted in "JSOnline"...."One of the temple's committee members, Ven Boba Ri, said that based on communication with people inside the temple, the shooter was a white male in his 30s.

Governor Walker statement on Oak Creek incident

MADISON - Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker released a statement Sunday regarding the fatal shooting in Oak Creek.

It reads: "While the situation in Oak Creek continues to develop rapidly, we are working with the FBI and local law enforcement. I became aware of the situation late this morning and continue to receive updated briefings.

"Our hearts go out to the victims and their families, as we all struggle to comprehend the evil that begets this terrible violence.

"At the same time, we are filled with gratitude for our first responders, who show bravery and selflessness as they put aside their own safety to protect our neighbors and friends.

"Tonette and I ask everyone to join us in praying for the victims and their families, praying for the safety of our law enforcement and first responder professionals and praying for strength and healing for this entire community and our state."

Thanx for the update. I wish we could all wait for a good deal more info before placing blame. Too many here, not you, have called out Muslims with no more evidence than DUs are now blaming the Tea Party. Let’s wait for info and pray for the dead, wounded, and their families.

Two news items from the WISN coverage. The police have excavated a neighborhood in a community called Cudahy. The bomb squad is on scene. Police, ATF and FBI agents are now at a home there. A heavily armored vehicle, explosives experts and canine units are at the home in the 3700 block of E. Holmes Ave. The news reporter says guns are drawn.

The second item is there are reports two men were seen casing the temple Friday or yesterday. Also, there is a report the shooter was dropped off. Both reports have not been confirmed by LEO.

The Police in Oak Creek just did a press conference and said there will be no more official information given out until 10:00 a.m. (Central time) tomorrow (Monday) morning.
