Next from the EPA: Four-Gallon- minimum Gas Purchases
PJ Media ^ | 8//9/12 | Bridget Johnson

The Environmental Protection Agency is going to require all consumers to buy at least four gallons of gasoline from certain gas pumps after the new E15 ethanol-gasoline blend is introduced into the market. The new regulation was revealed in an Aug. 1 letter to the American Motorcyclist Association, which expressed concern that the vast majority of motorcycles and ATVs in use today aren’t designed to operate on E15 fuel and residual fuel from a pump that serves multiple blends might harm these tanks. “The use of E15 will lower fuel efficiency and possibly cause premature engine failure,”

Dam right, that is how this once great America was born. A bunch of rag tag militia men who were poorly supplied but had balls and weren’t going to take the English sh*t anymore.

This is Obama’s way of bringing down unemployment. The Government will hire inspectors at every gas location to watch and be sure everyone buys 4 gallons of gas.

If you’ve had so much trouble, why not use E0 or 100LL in your power equipment?

I know in todays hyper over regulation environment ending all government regulation seems like a good idea.... we do actually need some gov regulations to keep civilization civilized

We can throw out about 99 % of the ones on the books and keep the ones that make sense....

Actually I just stumbled into this little gem..

The United States federal excise tax on gasoline is 18.4 cents per gallon (cpg) and 24.4 cents per gallon (cpg) for diesel fuel. On average, as of April 2012, state and local taxes add 31.1 cents to gasoline and 30.2 cents to diesel for a total US average fuel tax of 49.5 cents (cpg) per gallon for gas and 54.6 cents per gallon (cpg) for diesel.

Its obvious the Feds NEED two bucks every time somebody hits a gas pump....

My Yamaha tank holds 1.9 gallons...

0.5 gallon on the ground to clear the hose.

1.9 gallons to fill the tank.

1.6 gallons on the ground to get my money’s worth.

What if I just need a gallon for my mower's gas can?

You don't need a lawnmower, or a lawn.

It's been decided.

You don't need a motorcycle.

100LL is available at least through 2017.

So for those that need it now (and I hear a lot of FReepers complaining about ethanol fuel in their OPE) I’d say you’ve got 5 years worth of a solution.

It effectively strips the EPA of the power to regulate.

Stupid.

The EPA must be disbanded.

I was actually quite interested in this a few years ago, to the point of drafting model legislation to repeal the law creating the EPA.

Except, there is no such law.

The EPA was created by executive order (Nixon), and since it has no legislative existence, a repeal bill would be meaningless.

I got busy with other stuff, and never figured out how exactly we can get rid of it.

But defunding it or attempting to restrict its power won't work. The EPA exists to enforce the Clean Air Act, the Air Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, the and the Clean Water Act, and as long as those vague and (obviously) unconstitutional laws continue to exist, we will continue to have this problem.

Stupid.

Then don't do anything because that's exactly what you're going to get if you believe you're just going to eliminate it in one fell swoop. It ain't happening. Mitt St Jesus has already declared it to be a force for good.

I like that idea! My motorcycle has a 2.6 gallon tank, so if I pump enough to fill it or top it off will the gas station refuse my money?

I'm not sure people are reading this the right way. Here's the pertinent section (IMHO): ... require that at least four gallons of fuel be purchased to prevent vehicles and engines with smaller fuel tanks from being exposed to gasoline-ethanol blended fuels containing greater than 10 percent ethanol.

That seems to me like the minimum purchase is a counter-measure so people with smaller tanks (like your 2.6 gallon one) DON'T buy the E15 gas. Probably with a BIG sign on the tank saying "Minimum 4 Gallon Purchase" to act as a final warning. I'm not saying its a good idea (amounts to protecting you from yourself ... typical Nannystate philosophy), but that seems to be the crux of it.
