700 lbs of RDX, half a ton of ammonium nitrate, 750 million rnds of ammo...

Also taking into account (among other things):

it makes one wonder just what is coming down the pike. Or, more likely, what they plan on sending our way.

“When does decide that your government is preparing to enslave its citizens?”

No sure there’s any question of it at this point....the real question is...what to do about it?

As a former 0844 then transferring to Field Marine Force Recon, I can tell you the value of applying met and other data to your dope book and weapon sights. Remember range, deflection , elevation , humidity, wind velocity; fire for effect. There are a lot of hunters out there; you know the ground and the weather patterns, pick your killing ground and your time, eliminate the target. Always take out command and control with your first shot, the sheep are easy. Leave no survivors, kill all enemy personnel, the more you kill the fewer they will send.

750 rounds of .40 S&W pistol ammunition, probably just to avoid shortages for police agencies, it there's another market craze ahead. Some local police depts. had difficulties in getting it during the last episode of hysteria. ...went on for years. There are also the skyrocketing, outrageous prices.

And 7,000 new M-4/AR type, 5.56mm rifles. So those 5.56mm upper assemblies might be in short supply very soon. 5.56 ammo is relatively cheap (way cheaper than calibers used for both hunting and self-defense, which currently higher priced calibers will probably skyrocket even more), but the prices on that will probably go up soon, too (and availability, down). Can't help but wonder about the demographics of many firearms/ammo industry investors. They must be getting richer.

There are a number of on-line resources, especially http://www.survivalblog.com for one, where you will find better recommendations than I'm able to provide.

I can easily get five uses from .308 brass and twice that from pistol brass, therefore powder, bullets and primers are calculated based on number and life of brass on hand.

Except for rimfire, there is not a single caliber that I own that I do not reload for, even .380 ACP. I found a 119 grain bullet that works well for .380 and 9mm. I also have a supply of raw material and molds for making bullets for each caliber. My hero after the Quigley character, in the Quigley Down Under move, is the gunsmith in the movie. ;)

While factory ammo is fine for 99.9% of the shooters out there, there is no equal to handloaded rounds when put together by a talented reloader with the right equipment. Take apart a few factory rounds someday and weigh the powder and bullets and measure the cases and bullets. You'll be shocked at the variances.

You get a big improvement in accuracy reusing the brass fired in the same rifle when it's a bolt action by just resizing the neck; only by reloading is this possible.

I bet you already know all of this. I just want to put it out there for those who don't.

Btw, make sure your inventory meets your local and state ordinance and fire marshal requirements. Let's ensure our full compliance with applicable laws and regulations so that we may serve as an example to those who disregard our laws such as the current administration. :)

Get’em while you can. Time is growing short for those who haven’t finished preparing for what’s headed our way; we may only have a few months left to do so, based on recent news.

I don't have a local fire marshal. With that said, I hope my garage never catches on fire. LOL. As for what local laws and regulations have to say about our 2nd Amendment and God given rights, I choose God and I will continue to live that way to serve as an example to freedom and liberty. My original question was about what type of inventory that I should build up. Until I understand that, or the question of availability of components is resolved, I will just continue to make ammo. The constraint is cost.

The constraint is cost.

And looks like that's only going higher now with the government buying up all the ammo.

They will probably Demil the surplus too...

Heavy handed federal krap will not be tolerated past the first incident-—remember Ruby Ridge and Waco for instance.

I can understand our reasoning and I would hope that your scenario would be the case. However, your comment about something like Waco being a catalyst isn't evidence of a wholesale response - bad sentiment left over but action? No. The government will, against law, contrive ways to identify gun owners of certain weapons, by requiring all gunshops to submit the Forms 4473 for review. They have, in fact, tried this in several selected locations with no legal basis to see how gullible the gunshop owners were.

So, 2nd term Obama issues an Executive Order to such, and many gunshop owners will comply as NRA and other 2A groups start a lengthy legal challenge.

Meanwhile, Obama has the full information on the 'assault weapon' owners who bought via a Form 4473. Separated, dispersed, and largely alone in a legal sense, how many of these people do you think will not comply with a confiscation order. Remember that California did EXACTLY that a dozen or so years ago with certain types of rifles.

Only those weapons that are off the Form 4473 grid are essentially safe from this. My guess is that 80-90 percent of owners illegally targeted by this process would hand them over. Despite the talk Obama is an idiot, he and his ilk are far from it. They would not dare risk a high profile event like Waco, or anything near it. Their actions will be near-stealth, and the MSM will keep it off Americans' radars for as long as possible.

That said my FRiend, like you (I'm assuming), I won't be turning in any weapons. Worst case, they will be passed off to others, secreted, or just plain lost in a horrible boating accident.

Coincidentally, at the local guard base near where I work that I drive by every morning, they have emplaced at least two wheel-mounted bulletproof shields for the gate checkers. Stand about7 feet tall and armored, with two front wheels and some pickup handles on the back side to position them.

Note thousands of rounds of .380 and .38 Special: Does any Federale actually use weapons in those calibers??

Might explain why .380 ammo is scarce. Maybe they think they’re drying up gangbanger supplies.

There are 155 items in this RFQ. They add up to 63,256,000. =SUM(A1:A155)

63,256

x 1000

63,256,000

Where does the 650-750M number come from?

I haven’t looked at the RFP closely but does that number only apply to the base year with options for additional years?
