DHS Orders 750 Million More Rounds Of Ammo
The Alt-Market.com ^ | 13 August, 2012 | various

The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points and has ordered "up to" 650-750 million rounds of ammo and also seems to be looking for more weapons as well.

This and the S. Carolina scenario, that Ret. Army Col. dreamt up, are intended to be pacifying showcases.

They don’t understand the American people.

I did notice a line item requirement for matched .308

Troubling, but top quality ammo does not a sniper make.

“Most” is 51%.

“They” staff less than 1%

So if 10% of us stand up....that’s enough.

Let’s split the deference, we keep the brass and we give you the lead? ;-)

They’re looking for about ten different cartridges ... spread among the various assembly lines, they might get close.

This looks to me as if they are just using up manufacturing capacity trying to increase the cost of ammo to civilians.

Not sure how this will affect prices.

This is phase one of keeping a campaign promise where he said, "We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded (as the US military)."

This must be the new jobs program.

there will be elections, just one party to vote for. Theirs.

There will be the same various parties to vote for, but after Soro's Spanish vote counters finish it'll be a landslide for Won Again.

I hope you are right, but my gut tells me much less than that would actually stand up.

What is normally required? How much do they usually buy/budget for yearly training and practice and standard armament supplies for agents?

I've seen them in their rigged out SUVs often at the local Kroger's (grocery store).

Back around March (?), they were buying bullet proof check point booths.

Can someone in the damn media hold them accountable to explaining this???? Everything I speculate about what the intent of DHS is doing isn’t good.

I also thought I saw a line order for 10mm ammo. I’m not aware of any agency or part of the military that uses 10mm. Too hot, they went with the 40 SW. Also, looked liked a fair amount of 45 ACP. There may be some special forces and a few police depts that use the 45 but beyond that I’m not aware of any official usage. Also, 357 sig and 357 mag. 357 sig never really caught on and 357 mag isn’t used much in official capacities anymore that I’m aware of.

This is a lot of ammo across a lot of calibers.

Agree with others that it could fulfill a secondary role of keeping ammo scarce and expensive.
