DHS Orders 750 Million More Rounds Of Ammo
The Alt-Market.com ^ | 13 August, 2012 | various

The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points and has ordered "up to" 650-750 million rounds of ammo and also seems to be looking for more weapons as well.

Looks like a mix of training ammo along with self defense rounds. I noticed all the 38 spl specified is for training rounds which can be fired out of a 357 mag (cheaply) while all of the actual 357 mag rounds are JHP.

Looks like an ammo order for training along with defense usage across a very wide caliber range.

Consider them semi-mobile supply centers for comms gear, colorful patches, badgers, paperwork, spares, vehicles, etc, and if you’re really lucky a source of hi-carb hi-sugar snacks.

Supply droids.

Not I, thank you. I was merely commenting on something you personally have noted before. There are people who look upon others prepping as them doing the work for them and that they now know who to go to, to get what they need.

Do NOT count me in that group of would be thieves.

The only official usage of the 357 sig I was aware of was for the Air Marshalls. I’d heard of that a couple years ago and have no idea if they still use that caliber.

An additional 750,000,000 round requirement on top of a previous 450,000,000 round government contract has got to have an effect on the ammo market. Seems pretty risky for any established bidder. Maybe the large manufacturers will ignore it? It raises the question, why doesn't the DHS provide an explanation, if not to the general public, perhaps then to Congress?

I hear you. I’ve posted this a number of times, but here it is again:

I myself have posted warning about those I call “I’ve got lots of guns and plenty of ammo and I’ll just take what I need.” and the “I don’t prep because I don’t believe anything is going to happen, but if it does preppers should share with me.” types.

Anyone reading these peoples post can easily pick-up the anger in many of them and you will see that it’s not just the Libs that are shocked and infuriated by preppers. Now some the “I’ll take what I want crowd” when confronted will often back off saying things like “I was just joking”, but I don’t believe it. When I read their post I can’t help but think of this quote from one of my favorite westerns ’Open Range’: “Most times a man will tell you his bad intentions if you listen, let yourself hear.” I’ve ‘heard’ their intentions and they aren’t good.

The third type that I warn about are those who wish to bring God’s Armageddon into the discussion as if they know that it will be God’s will should some catastrophe befall us. They claim this despite the fact that the history of man is full of direr times which were caused by nature or man himself. History has shown us all too well that men do not need God to help them muck things up to a point were their fellows cry out for God to end it all and relieve them of their misery.

There will be many in this ‘its God’s will’ crowd who will want to see you punished as they will see your prepping as you trying to dodging God’s punishment. This group along with the “I don’t prep, but you should share” group will be among the first to report you and your ‘hoarding’ to the powers that be in their efforts to make sure you too suffer just as they do. The first group because as I said they see you as trying to escape the rightful wrath of God (as if they know the Lord’s mind) and the second because you proved them wrong.

You can be fairly certain that all three groups will hate you as they will be quick to blame you for the ‘troubles’ because in their twisted way of thinking your prepping brought the ‘troubles’ and therefore you need to be punished for your transgression.

As the article points out you need to keep in mind that OPSEC is not just for your Lib neighbors many people that you may think of as being conservative thinkers will be just as dangerous.

We have talked a lot about safety in numbers and that is so true, just remember that not all enemies sail under their true colors.

Beware these people, listen to their words carefully and “Listen, let yourself hear.” what they are saying.

That 7.62 order is confusing other than for arming your pet insurgency.

I would assume the military uses some AK’s for instructional purposes but I would think they'd have a separate supply chain.

>>If that doesn’t make you crap your pants, I don’t know what else would.<<

There is more of us veterans than there is active duty troops, so don’t sweat the military, the feds or the cops. WE OUTNUMBER THEM by more than a hundred to one.

Sure us vets are older but we are also wiser and fools don’t win wars. If the S ever HTF, it will be their S and that queer bitch at DHS knows it.

They won’t be burning thru a billion rounds in one month. That’s a long-term order (”take what you want, we’ll make more”).

Seriously folks, I think this is another omnious sign. Look at the recent “laws” allowing maritial law, the training of armed LE preparing for riots during October and Novemeber, the increasing use of drones for spying on the American public.

If one reviews the actions taken by the Brownshirt Nazi’s in prewar Germany, there were plenty of warnings. When does decide that your government is preparing to enslave its citizens?

Just like Hussein’s Buddy who went all Jihadi down in Texas using the FN 5X7 fifty round handgun or FN’s 2000 carbine for a full auto side arm.

I guess they spend most of their time at the range getting ready.

Or just pissing away ammo that other people paid for.

in the health care bill they gave Obama 450 million a year for his new private army. so he is using DHS as his funnel for the AMMO
