For the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has the support of over 40 percent of America's youth vote, a troubling sign for President Obama who built his 2008 victory with the overwhelming support of younger, idealistic voters.
Pollster John Zogby of JZ Analytics told Secrets Tuesday that Romney received 41 percent in his weekend poll of 1,117 likely voters, for the first time crossing the 40 percent mark. What's more, he said that Romney is the only Republican of those who competed in the primaries to score so high among 18-29 year olds.
is is the first time I am seeing Romney's numbers this high among 18-29 year olds," said Zogby. "This could be trouble for Obama who needs every young voter he can get."
Zogby helped Secrets dig deeper into his weekend poll, which we reported on earlier. The poll had Romney and Obama tied at 46 percent.

I’m wondering about the younger black vote. Specifically the ones who were 16/17 y/o last time around. Black youth unemployment is somethere around 25%?
Maybe Romney/Ryan need to come up with some kind of relief for young people who are under severe stress from Student Loans first and cut Obama off at the pass on that. But, they damn well better hurry. Might be a good talking point for Romney in his Acceptance Speech at the Convention.
If so then great, but I think they will be more practical and wait until R/R actually do something ... like repeal obamacare, before they make that plunge.

Um, no. Florida was already leaning Romney's way, and going on offense there will keep that trend in place. I suspect Obama had written off Florida, honestly, in order to concentrate on other states.
Actually 58% turn out by 18-29 year olds would tie the record set in 1972, when 58% of the youth vote turned out to vote 52% Nixon.
Not necessarily. The outcome hinges on effective marketing, and he has this ace in the hole:

“WHAT WOULD REAGAN SAY?” should be the title of Romney’s speech segment to youthful voters!
Reagan always gave a small segment of each major speech to “the young people.”
As a result, we have today a lot of middle-aged voters who vote the way Reagan encouraged them to do, back in the day.

Second, real evidence is from Indecision 2000 here in FLA. Military absentee votes were discarded by the Leftist vote-counters both in Jacksonville and Pensacola. With the margin of votes during that election cycle, Bush v. Gore might never have happened.
Further disenfranchisement urrently cshows up with the military vote in Ohio, the dead vote in Illinois, and the dead again, plus the illegal and felon votes in Florida. All these have been mentioned from various sources from right here on FR.

He should simply say what are doing now is not working and to simply look around main street or anywhere else for that matter.

I think that this is one of the groups that will blame it all on President Bush.
My brother is an airline pilot and makes very good money. His wife is a “social liberal” and it has rubbed off on him. We live in the Seattle area which rivals San Francisco for “social liberals”.
