PENN HILLS, Pa. —

Police said a 14-year-old stole a car on Sunday then led officers on a chase that ended in a crash on a Parkway East ramp.
.
.
Channel 11's Dave Bondy spoke to the mother of the 14-year-old accused of stealing the car. She said what her son did was wrong, but the owner of the car made it too easy for her car to be stolen.

"My son was wrong for taking that vehicle but someone jumped out of their car and a 14-year-old seen the opportunity to take the car. He didn't break the car to steal it. They left the keys in the car. I think as an adult we have some type of ownership to being responsible for our vehicles," the boy's mother said.

Troopers said the chase was called off before the teen flipped the jeep on the Parkway East. The boy's mother said she doesn't think police should have followed her son.

"He had to no right to chase my son. It could have been a situation where maybe it was just a joyride down the street. Maybe he wanted to go further than he felt like walking," she said.

Video of interview with the mother at link. So, if the 14 year old criminal dies as a result, the mother will sue the car owner for leaving her keys in the car. maybe the owner will be prosecuted for a hate crime too?

Should have stopped there, mom.

Leaving your car running unattended, as many do on cold winter days, is a crime in the People’s Republic of Maryland.

He had no right to chase my son, my son was just taking a joy ride.

Black people have that right.

Why wonder why these kids are disproportionately suspended from school. This mother is the answer.

LOL, this cracks me up. They probably used the jaws of life to extract this single occupant from the wreckage but he is stilled referred to as "accused".

Dave Bondy spoke to the mother of the 14-year-old who stole the car. FIXED!

The interview with the "mother" is incredible. She seems to have no limits on her ability and willingness to rationalize.

"I think as an adult we have some type of ownership to being responsible for our vehicles,"

She does, however, have serious limitations on her ability to construct meaningful sentences.

This is nothing new. A judge in CA once blamed the car owner because he or she left the keys in a car. A kid took it for a joyride.

OK, b1tch have it your way. If you become a victim of a sexual assault, maybe the cops shouldn't intervene, after all, that poor individual needs help and is only venting his frustrations.

If I was the reporter I would have laughed in the “Moms” face....She’s standing there talking about being responsible after her 14 year old STOLE a car! Please. People raised to take no personal responsibility and blame others first........

I’m rather surprised she didn’t say it was Bush’s fault.

It’s pretty obvious where this kid gets his criminal ways.

With all due respect, it’s about time we start thinking about means by which we can 1) remove US citizenship from this idiotess, and 2) ship her anywhere...just not here.

She is NOT an American...heck, she is barely human.

Get her and her idiot son outta here... now.

No, the sad fact is that it is NOT incredible. We’ve have them justifying everything from robbery to assault. “My son didn’t to deserve to be shot for robbing that store” is pretty common in a certain socio-economic and ethnic group.

The sad part is, they won’t drag the mother in as an accessory.

Don’t forget the mother of the perp suing the mfg of the vehicle as well for failing to have Vehicle Owner Recognition so the vehicle would be inoperative except by it’s legal owner.

There was a day, ages ago it seems now, where parents rigorously taught their children to respect other people’s property. Theft and vandalism wasn’t treated so lightly.
