Farm and/or Drought Bailout
8-19-12 | Self

I need some help with status of the "farm bailout"...as I understand it, Congress is going on recess, and, prior to this, we are likely not bailing out farmers due to pork added to such bills...perhaps this is rhetorical, but is Boehner so stupid that he can't get in front of a microphone and say, "we'll pass something if the Dems would remove pork from the bill and make it just the farm bailout"?

From what I see, 0bama's agencies, i.e., him, will get compassion points if we let this go by and look like Scrooge. Sure, I had government waste, but we really need to educate the masses in what really is going on...Boehner really pisses me off. I hope I'm wrong.

No excuse if Boehner gets out-maneuvered:

For heaven's sake.... please let the Farm Bill die... The whole thing is a bloated scam... one side is subsidizing white absentee land owners (mid-west farmers) and the other side is subsidizing urban welfare recipients.

The whole thing is a giant scam.... Not one of these groups is willing to address the waste, fraud, and abuse.... The agri-business community wants the corn subsidy, the insurance boys want the crop insurance premiums, and the urban fools want to keep their voter, food stamp fools on the hook.... The whole circus is a fraud. Let the program die. It is a costly fraud.

I’ll just add that 80% DOESN’T go to farmers. It goes to city welfare folks.

Farm bill to be sure for ConAgra, Warren Buffetts railroads and agriculture ventures, more food stamps, and the Food Stamp President’s other vote buying scams.

On a Farm Bill Pie Graph, one skinny little sliver goes to farmers and it appears the bulk goes mainly to SNAP (food stamps). There are a few other slivers that are mainly social programs......
It sure doesn’t seem it will do much of anything to help the drought stricken farmers.

*ANY* sort of bailout is unpopular these days with most people on both sides of the political fence. Opinion is turning against a lot of this - the lefties don’t like it because the bailouts leave what they see as the same old corprocrats in power.

The next party to get the Bailout tag stuck on them is toast. Also, the farmers should have thought of this when they were screaming for the corn ethanol mandate and the corn ethanol subsidies.

“The whole thing is a giant scam”

I am all in with what you said. I have struggled thru countless droughts in South Texas over the years. Have hung on by my teeth and have never accepted one red cent from drought relief. NOT ONE PENNY from UNCLE SAMMY.

This year, I have had it. Have watched feed prices sky rocket while our dimwitted government converts our food and feed into fuel. Sold out all lease land cattle and calves. Kept minimum herd on home place to keep freezer full and sell grass fed calves for CASH to individuals.

Our FERAL Government can keep converting food into fuel, I will keep my food at home and none will go to open market anymore. Time to fort up.

Screw ‘em and let ‘em eat their bills smoothered in E10 and E15......

You are right.

Thanks to FDR the farmers were the first welfare recipients. Later the program morphed into downright welfare and exploded in 1964 under Johnson.

Farmers have become so accustomed to the government teat that they let the government tell them what to plant, where to plant, how to plant, whether or not to plant, and how much they will get for their crop. Farmers have become financial slaves of the government by their own choosing.

They aren’t thankful for any government help, they expect it! If a farmer plants oats one year and the market for his crop crashes, guess what he plants the next year....OATS! And the year after that....OATS!

Why? Simple, he expects the government to come to his aid...and they do each and every time.

Farmers left the world of supply and demand and the rules of making a profit many years ago when they traded it for government protection.
