Last week my opponent put out a tv ad depicting me beating women. That ad is disgraceful and despicable. As a husband and father of two daughters, I found Congressman Todd Akin’s comments about rape to be in the same vein. These comments are simply unacceptable. There is no place in politics for these type of comments and attitudes toward women.
Actually, let me correct myself. The Fox show I watched must have been playing the wrong clip. They described it as Romney’s gaffe but I see the clip online now with Romney’s “president” gaffe, and they played one where he said it correctly.
Allen West should have made no comment, pro or con, about what Akins said.
All of this piling on is a political calculation that the only way the Reps can win in Missouri is to get someone else. It has nothing to do with what was actually said, but how it will play in the Senate race.
I really can’t understand the GOP, which eats its own. A mere statement, which Akin apologized for is sufficient to draw a mob that denounces him with some calling for his to withdraw from the race. Is it any wonder that the Dems think they can force the Reps to cower in the corner about every phrase they may utter. No wonder they are afraid to go after Obama’s personal narrative whether it is his BC, school transcripts, etc.
In the meantime, we have Ted Kennedy leaving a girl to drown in a car he was driving, Clinton molesting women in the WH and raping one, and Rangel and Geitner filing false tax returns. So what is the Dem response. They support their own thru thick and thin.
Remember that crowd fronm Congress that went down to the WH to support Clinton after he was impeached? And now Clinton is primed to speak as a Party elder at the convention. Contrast that with the Palin has been treated by the GOP—not even being allowed to speak despite all of the grassroots activity she did in support of GOP candidates and fundraising. The GOP is afraid that Palin will be a liability.
The GOP deserves no loyalty when they treat their own this way. Remember how Trent Lott was demoted when he misspoke at a birthday party. Akin did not kill or rape anyone. He did not pull the race card like Biden. And you know after all of this, McCaskill could still win even if Akin is replaced or she could lose even if Akin stays. Anyone looking at Akins public record in its totality will see that he is a strong conservative (lifetime ACU rating of 97.) This is another “macaca moment” and the GOP blinks again.

The GOP lack leadership, plain and simple. Instead of attacking and marginalizing Akin AFTER he apologized....they needed to rally around him and bring up the past DNC missteps....Joe Biden is still on the ticket after his Chains comment.
I am disappointed at Allen West because he is not showing the leadership he has demonstrated in his military career and while in Congress. A leader tries to rehabilitate those who have mis-stepped....not push them out.
I only wish that Akin would drop out! Claire spent big to go up against him, becuase Steelman was the real deal and would have cleaned Claires clock.
If I lived in Missouri, I wouldn’t vote for for Akin. I wouldn’t vote for the Dem of course. Most likely not vote for the Libertarian candidate. The guy just doesn’t have an IQ.
He should at least back up his theory with some scientific proof. Not some doctor told me that a few years ago.
The Dems threw out John Edwards too. The Dems don’t put up with crap either.

Steelman came in third so she will have to hope number 2 falls apart before she gets her chance.
It is not a matter of Akin being a nice guy or not. The point is should we be throwing loyal, conservative Republicans under the bus for one verbal gaffe? The Dems don’t do that. Getting rid of Akins may or may not increase our chances of taking the senate seat from McCaskill. However, it may discourage Akin supporters from continuing to support the GOP now and in the future. He won the primary fair and square. Now we want to dump him for an awkward phrase. It is counterproductive in the long term to force him out.
Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson ran for the Presidency despite a history of gaffes. In the case of Sharpton, he actually caused some deaths in his wake and now he has a TV show. What price did either of them pay for their mistakes? Eliot Sptizer is another example. Charlie Rangel is still in Congress. Ted Kennedy was reelected after his indiscretions. The Democrats have no shame. The Reps collapse like a cheap suit if the MSM sneezes.

If you try to have sex with your wife or girlfriend, and her vagina muscles are so repulsed by the idea that they involuntary close shut like a little kid that doesn’t want to eat their vegatbels, you would refer to that woman as “frigid”?
I agree. I hope she will replace him if he does jump out.
Today it is called Vaginismus. In the dark old days, it was called frigidity. Sad but true.
All I can say is hopefully the voters of Missouri are so pissed with the current senator, as well as Obama and ObamaCare, that they vote in Akin anyhow.
If not, we at least have some encouraging news from Massachusetts, where the latest PPP poll has Scott Brown five points ahead of Elizabeth Warren. This seat was widely favored to flip back to the Democrats but it appears that Elizabeth Warren is wearing thin already on a lot of Massachusetts voters. So if Brown can hold on, this will neutralize an Akin defeat in Missouri.
As much a disappointment Brown has been to Republicans, he is definitely on record as voting to repeal ObamaCare so let's hope he gets re-elected.
If Akin stays in despite the enormous pressure to get rid of him by the GOP establishment, including Romney, I think he deserves the vote of every conservative in Missouri.
