Todd Akin Opens Door to Possible Exit
ABC News ^ | August 22, 2012 | George Stephanopoulos

Posted on 08/22/2012 10:38:01 AM PDT by EveningStar

Here’s what Missouri Congressman Todd Akin said when I asked if he was in the race to stay – even if it looked like he would lose and possibly cost Republicans control of the Senate.

“Well George, I’m never going to say everything that could possibly happen. I don’t know the future, but I do know this. I knew that the party voters took a look at our hearts, understood who we were, had a chance to meet us in many, many different ways and made a decision,” Akin told me. “And it makes me uncomfortable to think that the party bosses are going to dictate who runs as opposed to the election process.”

Of course, because it’s better to talk about abortion where the Democrats can demagogue everything instead of the economy which is a major weakness for them and then watch Obama and the Democrats run the country for another 4 years.

Perfectly reasonable, I agree all the way.

And the MIssouri GOP will replace Rep. Akin with a Romney-McCain RINO who cannot win in November.

Yep -- that's what they would do -- and when their candidate loses in November because conservative prolife voters didn't show up at the polls, they would blame Akin anyway.

There are all kinds of scenarios, but if anyone could knock some sense into him, it would be Ryan.
Seems Ryan has gotten something knocked into to him; has Romney affixed a collar yet?

And then you gave them, and continue to give them, a reason to change their minds.

And it's not too late for him to bow to their wishes, whatever they may be, if he still knows what he knew.

And you think the Missouri voters who are obviously unhappy with Obama and the Democrats will suddenly turn around and give them their stamp of approval just because Akin made one confusing statement that he quickly clarified and retracted?

Well ... besides electing McCasKILL in '06, MO voters also elected a DEAD GUY once before ... which gave us WIDOW CARNAHAN

You're looking at a Romney sweep of all but the truest of blue states, and may still manage to lose MO because of this fool---and a selfish fool---Akin.

If that is the case and if the Rasmussen polls are right, then it is a landslide and there will be a pickup of +6 seats in the Senate giving the GOP control.

So why all the flummuxing about Missouri???

Go down to Florida and help Mack and it will be +7.

Quit quoting crappy ills. Romney is tied, at worst, right now. He hasn’t closed the deal but Obama’s numbers are terrible. Florida polling shows that state nearly in the bag, and Obama is tanking throughout the Midwest. .

He should switch parties and start having gay sex with underage boys at rest stops.

He’d win in a landslide.

He simply referenced an article by a doctor who wrote about the subject of rape and pregnancy back in 1999. I have no doubt Akin got his information from here because it's almost verbatim for what Akin said. He and the doctor may or may not be wrong, but quoting a well-written article by a doctor about a medical topic is not "idiocy."
