What a difference one TV interview can make. Embattled Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill has now jumped to a 10-point lead over her Republican challenger, Congressman Todd Akin, in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race. Most Missouri Republicans want Akin to quit the race while most Missouri Democrats want him to stay.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in the Show Me State finds McCaskill earning 48% support to Akin’s 38%. Nine percent (9%) like some other candidate in the race, and five percent (5%) are undecided.

Let’s assume that selfish swine Akin survives. BFD. How much damage will Akin do to the other 8 competitive Senate races, 30-40 House races, and the Presidential election?

Hey!, did everyone know that Joe Biden, in 2008 said “Barak Obama has no better friend in Missouri than Clarie McCaskill”? Did you also know that Claire McCaskill has proven Joe Biden correct by voting with the President’s wishes about 98% of the time. She was a deciding vote on ObamaCare, as well as selling our children’s future down the river with the various bail outs and such.

She’s been on the side of the Senate that has refused to do its Constitutional duty by not passing a budget, or even attempting to.She also, has proven that she doesn’t care about the Constitution, by allowing obama to run rough shod over it, like a Banana Republic dictator.

She thinks Missourians are dumb, and that she can slide through this election with lies, innuendos and mud slinging.

Signed,
A Missouri Patriot

If they’d gotten behind the guy and said simply by “legit” he meant “violent as opposed to statutory”, this would have blown over quickly.

They could explain it until they're blue in the face, but if the media ignores the explanation and Democrats want to exploit it, what good does it do?

Do you think that Democrats like Elizabeth Warren (who already has a radio ad quoting Akin) are going to air Akin's words, then include a comment that what he meant was "violent as opposed to statutory"? Of course, they won't. They'll play Akin and leave it at that.

All we can hope for now is that Democrats overplay their hands like they did at the Wellstone memorial.

Are you defending Akin’s continued presence when it’s clear he has no hope of stopping McCaskill’s reelection?

It’s a lose lose situation.

If the GOP gets him out, they will put in a liberal RINO to run against the dem liberal.

When two liberals are running, one from each party, the dem candidate usually wins.

We will see with the Presidential race, if people will vote for Romney (liberal-lite) or super heavy no holds barred liberal leftist Marxist Obama.

Rasmussen is clearly a company that leans right with t’s poling which means Rasmussen himself would probably like to see Akin out of the race so he the right wing polling company comes up with a poll that has him down 10, but the PPP aka liberal polling company has Akin up.

The PPP poll had Akin up by oversampling Republicans by 9. Corrected for that bias, Akin was down 7-10% which is consistent with this new Rasmussen poll.

It's undeniable: Akin is drowning.

Wow. That is a MAJOR tumble, a 20-point swing.

If he doesn’t see this as unrecoverable, he is a moron. I am sorry, while I believe in Providence, it should be clear at this point God doesn’t “want” him or he would still be ahead in the polls.

He should have come out the next day and said, I WAS MIS-INFORMED. THE INFORMATION THAT I WAS ONCE TOLD IS WRONG..

He did.

I’m not defending Akin. Just pointing out that if he stays in the race then a third party candidate just aids McCaskill. This isn’t Alaska. A write-in or third party isn’t going to win the race.

What about Sarah Steelman, the Tea Party candidate that Sarah Palin endorsed?

As long as Akin remains the GOP candidate in MO, the dems will milk this as long as they want and there's NOTHING the GOPers can do about it. As such, this will likely result in the loss of Missouri, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Because the dems will pound the Akin flap into the heads of voters (and you KNOW they can succeed at this).

So, sadly... the dems can inflict as much damage up and down the Republican ticket as they wish. And, like a spent, beaten boxer taking repeated blows to the head, we are helpless to do anything to stop it.

On the other hand, Akin could put his country first and stop the bleeding now, take one for the team, step aside and let the GOP field a viable candidate and allow this debacle to fade into memory. Until this issue is resolved, the rainmakers from the hurricane won't be the only dark clouds over Tampa next week.

Any guess as to why the GOP-E decided to go for his throat?

The GOP-E consisting of Sarah Palin, Mark Levin, the vast majority of freepers, Ron Johnson, Alan West?

Akin teed up the perfect "war on women" soundbite for Democrats. He's a liability from coast to coast where Democrats have already cut ads against Republicans using the quote, including Dan Lungren in CA and Scott Brown in MA.

That's why conservatives, and the GOP-E, have gone for his throat: he's a traitor for putting ego and ambition above his principles and effectiveness.

Of course, it was "conservatives" who made Akin say absolutely idiotic things. Once those words came out from him, the left took off with it and he was done, politically as he had lost any sane-thinking moderates and independents.

At that point the expedient thing to do was to get this nut to step down but thanks to his arrogance and ego, that didn't happen either.

Akin is the one who blew an 11-point lead with that monumental gaffe, not the conservatives.

Some 50+ years ago, while I was a curious pre pubescent, we guys would hang out and whisper all the rumors we had heard about female plumbing and how things work. We were on average 90% wrong on the matter.

This guy, it seems is still falling back on his early boyhood biology training
