Great video interview of football great Burgess Owens by Steve Malzberg.
Some quotes from the interview:
"The pathway that the black race took is exactly the pathway that america will take if we don't become engaged and become aware."
"When we see the black family today is exactly what the american family will be if we don't wake up and understand that is that has been done to us over the last hundred years."
"95% of black americans have voted for the same party for the past 40 or 50 years."
"There should never be a time when 95% of black capitalists vote for the same person as 95% of communists... There's something wrong with that scenario."
Owens has written a book, "It's All About Team: Exposing the Black Talented Tenth"

I agree. It's about RIGHT vs. WRONG, GOOD vs. EVIL. Always has been, always will be.
Our genetic heritage differences are being used to turn us against each other. To keep us from seeing the true enemy and attacking it.
When an incidence of (media-hyped) racism occurs, I often think of this song, and our approach, as a nation, to the last lines of the song.
There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they’re quite convinced they’re right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can’t help their feelings
If they like the way they’re made
And they wonder why the maples
Can’t be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream ‘Oppression!’
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
‘The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light’
Now there’s no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw
RUSH - The Trees
Always nice to hear from Burgess Owens. For those who aren’t aware, Owens converted to Mormonism about 30 years ago. Along with Jabari Parker, Gladys Knight and Thurl Baily, he pokes some big holes in that “Mormons are racist” argument.
I’m not going to look it up but I think Burgess Owens was an Oakland Raider when I was a very small kid. I could swear I’ve heard the late, great Bill King’s voice on the radio saying his name while calling a game...
Ditto
Blacks used be staunch Republicans because of the man who truly freed them - Abraham Lincoln.
Pinging you because you know how to ping others that I haven’t met.....yet, Shipmate.
Jimmy Graham plays for the New Orleans Saints, but he's only half cracker.
Loved that song. Always did! Quoted it myself again and again. Back in the day, we understood it to be a criticism of communism. Later, the band seemed to back away from that meaning. (Pinging someone else who might be a fan.)
Just remember that skin color is God’s paint job. There is perfection even in freckles.
If it involves Football, Rush will make it a point to have him on the show for an extended interview.
I’ve said for months that Obama might still get 95% of the Black vote in November, but there will not be as many Black votes this time as there were in ‘08. So, it will be 95% of about 15 million Black votes instead of 16.5 million; the total number of Blacks that voted in ‘08. They won’t be able to bring themselves to vote against a brotha, but, many will stay home because the brotha in the White House has not delivered for them like they thought he would.
The GOP needs to get this gentleman on the ticket somewhere, anywhere and give him all the monetary support he needs.
I love your comment!
Now if the blacks wake up with his message!!
I remember Burgess Owens. Believe it or not, he actually called Rush’s radio program a couple of days after the 1994 Republican landslide. He reminded Rush that he played for the Oakland Raiders when they won 1 or 2 of their Super Bowls. Rush said that was one of the best phone calls he took. Burgess Owens had said something to the point like, “If I can do it, you can do it.” Owens and Rush had a great conversation. A couple of weeks later, Owens was invited to be in the audience on Rush’s television show. Not long after that, Rush interviewed Burgess Owens for the Limbaugh Letter. So it’s safe to say Burgess Owens got it a long time ago. BTW, someone may want to email this article or video to Rush. It may bring back great memories of their talk.

It was linked on Drudge. I know Rush follows that.
