“AMERICA IS BETTER THEN BIRTHERISM” (The Barfy Wisdom of Liberalism)
Daily Caller ^ | August 25, 2012 | Jim Treacher

Posted on 08/26/2012 11:50:34 AM PDT by lbryce

That’s the message in the skies above today’s Romney/Ryan rally in Powell, Oiho Ohio. Courtesy of Jan Crawford at CBS News, here’s a banner ad that’s being flown overhead:

Yep. “Better then.” That’s what it says.

Maeve Reston at the LA Times says MoveOn.org is responsible for this. That makes sense, because they’re super-smart.

Speaking of words that people don’t know how to use, I’ve been informed by my old pal Dave Weigel (@daveweigel) that I’m a “birther.” The reason I’m a “birther” is that I think Obama was born in Hawaii. I’m also a “birther” because when Obama wants me to believe he went over 15 years without reading his own literary bio that falsely claimed he was born elsewhere, I get a little skeptical.

Thinking that Obama had anything to do with this, or even knew about it, is a “conspiracy theory.” According to Weigel, anyway. Yeah, what sort of unbridled narcissist would read his own literary bio? Not Obama, that’s for sure…

“Birther” means whatever it needs to mean at the moment a liberal uses it. People who think Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii are “birthers.” People who think Obama was born in Hawaii, and who wonder why he used to claim otherwise, are also “birthers.” The word has been rendered meaningless. Now it’s just an epithet to throw out when you don’t feel like thinking.

But hey, at least MoveOn spelled it right!

P.S. Romney, back in April: “I believe the president was born in the United States.” HOW DARE HE JOKE ABOUT IT???

The Constitution was written by honorable men for honorable men.

Exactly! You can't maintain a republican form of government unless the large majority of the citizenry is honorable. Would be tyrants of all stripes understand this.

When the Constitution was written there were no birth certificates in America.

That's true, and government agencies weren't in the business of issuing them. In fact, current BC issuing agencies, like state and local departments of health, probably didn't exist anywhere in the country.

Yet it seems as if most people knew their exact dates and places of birth, and could be trusted with telling the truth about such information. For example, historians have few disputes about the birth dates and birth places of the early American presidents and other prominent early American individuals.

When citizens are honorable, less government intrusion into their personal lives is needed. Suppose that's the moral of this little piece of history.

The Constitution includes no requirement that specific documents be provided to prove eligibility. *(Sherman Logan)
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Sherman Logan, what do you want? A Constitution the size of the Manhattan phone book?

No number of laws will coral evil. Definitions of even the finest points will NOT deter those who choose to subvert them. The Constitution is NOT sufficient to maintain an orderly society even if every individual word were tightly defined. . Ultimately it merely a scrap of paper with faded ink.

Fundamentally, whether our experiment in self rule succeeds or fails depends upon honest citizens or good will.

The Constitution is**meaningless* without people of good will who are willing to honestly abide by its original meaning.

Sherman are you on the side of evil or are you a person of good will? Today is the day to choose.

I actually agree.

My original post was to a poster who claimed that the Constitution required that Obama provide his original birth certificate or other documentation.

My point is that it doesn’t.

I can't find the word, "birtherism," anywhere. Not in Spell Check, Webster, Funk and Wagnel,...

My post was about goodwill and honesty.

Goodwill and honesty demands it.

Are you siding with evil or will you stand with those of goodwill and honesty?

I am overflowing with goodwill and honesty.

I suspect, from your POV, the problem is that I believe Obama is an NBC.

A very poor president, but elected perfectly properly.

You're kidding me right?

This is the first sentence of the videos description.

The video starts out with some content from obamasnippets.com, which, of course is contrived. And yet, there seems to be a synthetic truth about what the president says.

what opinions are American

Lying about the Constitution is anti-American and you should cut it out.

I agree that lying about the Constitution is anti-American.

Would you care to provide evidence I’m lying? We have a difference of opinion, but in your world is everyone who disagrees with you a liar?

You have a remarkably high opinion of your own wisdom.

Your claim that the word “natural” is “purely stylistic” is a hardcore anti-American lie, one you are using to justify British communist usurpation. You should be ashamed of yourself; but you are probably incapable of such.

Interesting set of values you have there.

You claim, no doubt, to be an American patriot, yet you appear to despise upwards of 3/4 of your fellow citizens.

Your hardcore anti-American lies indicate hatred for each and every American. Please stop projecting your faults on to others.
