Adults can do as they choose, but any drug use during developmental (childhood) years is inadvisable, whether it be alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, or what have you. Legal or illegal, it's just a bad idea all around.

As a libertarian who opposes the fascist War on Drugs, I nonetheless firmly believe that criminal penalties for contributing to the delinquency of minors in this manner should be substantial, regardless of whether such substances are legal or illegal.

The body is fairly durable, capable of eventually recovering from nearly everything eventually.

However, the body ability to recover is not unlimited. If you do something long enough, it can leave a permanent mark.

Our President could be the poster boy. You’d have to be smoking something to think he seems intelligent.

Call me skeptical. I grew up the 70’s where teenagers lived in a marijuana induced haze that Dazed and Confused doesn’t even do justice to. Everyone turned out ok. Kids I knew then are doctors, lawyers, accountants etc.

You mean like the tattoo I got in Japan after Boot Camp?

Oh no, according to the FReeperLibertarians I occasionally lock horns with on drug threads, it’s actually good for you! Like a glass of wine with dinner!

Except we all know differently, and our stereotype of pot smokers as dull idiots has a basis in fact.

Yes, you can smoke once, or once in a blue moon, or really occasionally, and still be fine.

But few people do “just” that. And long term use not only makes you stupider, it makes you paranoid. I have seen this firsthand.

agreed. i would legalize weed, package it up and tax it like cigarettes.

less harmful than alcohol, remove thousands imprisoned, off the public dole, and reduce crime.

somebody, somewhere declared a war on drugs, and we lost.

blessings, bobo

” it also sometimes destroys ambition.”

Yes, and I particularly hate to see young men smoking. They should be in their prime, ready to go get ‘em, and those who smoke pot, particularly heavily, are stupid and listless.

I do think you can recover over time, but I hate to see them crippling themselves like that.

In a way, but the tattoo is immediate, but your lifetime habits are more gradual.

I actually think pot use is largely behind the rise in “mood disorders” that are flooding the disability claims.

It has a real cost. They aren’t just sitting on their back porch not bothering nobody like they promised.
