Dolan To Pray At Democratic National Convention
CNN ^ | August 28, 2012 | Eric Marrapodi

Cardinal Timothy Dolan has accepted an invitation to give the closing prayer at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., next week, which will also feature a nun in a speaking role.

Dolan, the archbishop of New York and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, also will give the closing benediction at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday.

When he accepted that invitation, Dolan said his appearance would be prayerful, not political, a sentiment reiterated by his spokesman in announcing his appearance at the DNC.

"It was made clear to the Democratic Convention organizers, as it was to the Republicans, that the Cardinal was coming solely as a pastor, only to pray, not to endorse any party, platform, or candidate," cardinal spokesman Joseph Zwilling said....

“I don’t know how you can attend a purely political event like this and not have your appearance be interpreted as political, especially when the press is in bed with the Democrats........bad idea”

Very bad.

Sorry I mistyped the word planned. I just lost respect for Dolan by his planned appearance at the Democratic Convention. The lives of the unborn are more important then political points.

“Well, let’s hope so. I will lose all respect for Cardinal Dolan if he fails to include an overt pro-life statement in his remarks to the Dems.”

Hussein’s handlers still have pretty tight control on what the media reports, so I can’t believe they won’t want to approve every word in the prayer.

I’ll bet the Cardinal will have to provide the text beforehand.

For security or some such reason.

My local Priest is not political per se, but he is Catholic and based on his religious conservative beliefs can give you a dressing down and convince you to do the right thing without bringing dem vs republican into it.

I’m baffled over this. Why would he cozy up to socialists and Muslims?

They might never have heard the Gospel message before.

Many catholic bishops have no pride , nor consistency nor courage. I speak as a catholic free-lance .
Maybe he received orders from Rome or threats from the Obama thugs

Billy Graham met with all presidents.

It depends on what is said. He could wind up making them ashamed of themselves....if that’s possible.

That’s it ! Preaching to the sinners ?

What a nice excuse for a political and hypocritical move from the Bishop Dolan.
He could preach to those sinners everywhere else but not at the DNC . Everyone understands very well that the dhimmyrats want the catholic vote while they absolutely don’t care about catholicism

Thanks jmaroneps37.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan... also will give the closing benediction at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., on Thursday.
This will help a lot of fencesitters stop straddling and vote Pubbie.

At least we now have a better understanding of Democratic party principles.

Democrats believe that prayers should be strictly forbidden at public gatherings such as football games, commencement speeches, and so on, UNLESS the Democrats are in danger of losing the Catholic vote by a wide margin, in which case the Democratic National Convention may be temporarily turned into a prayer rally by America’s leading Cardinal.

Just give a quickie exorcism and go take a holy water shower.

For those who think it is a bad move, the Democrats cannot control what he says. Here's hoping he will have the bluntness and courage of Pope John Paul II.
