TAMPA-- Former Sec. of State Condoleezza Rice implored Republicans to champion a "compassionate" immigration policy in her speech at the Republican National Convention Wednesday.

"We must continue to welcome the world's most ambitious people to be a part of us. In that way we stay young and optimistic and determined," Rice said. "We need immigration laws that protect our borders; meet our economic needs; and yet show that we are a compassionate people."

I most liked it when she said that if we retreat from our role in the world, that role will be filled by a country that doesn’t have our same values.

Who ya kidding? Endless compassionate wars have cost Ma and Pa in Kansas their kid, and joe tax payer trillions. What did we win?

Cheap gas? No, its doubled...More global respect? No....Did we build walmarts and liquor stores in Baghdad? No....Do their leaders support our efforts and offer any kind of benefits to the tax payers for our/soldiers efforts...No.

When people have two or three others cut in front of them when there is an orderly but slow-moving line for the cash registers at the 7-Eleven, with not so much as an apology (and on top of that if they started scooping things off the counter without paying and just walking out), why I'll tell you, most Americans could get mightily "COMPASSIONATE."

OH-OH, compassion again?
Compassionate conservatism? Didn’t that get us Pelosi and Obama under GWB?
When she mentioned ‘education’ I thought NCLB. Never mentioned private school vouchers.

Not a bad speech though for what it was trying to do, help Romney. She is likable.
Matthews is calling for Condi to be POTUS. (11:15pm EST) She is now being interviewed by Mitchell on MSNBC 11:18pm. She is not doing a bad job, cant wait to see Matthews response.

Savage’s real name is Wiener.

Anyone who agrees with this blowhard ex-liberal New York asshat who whines all the time is a Wiener-lover.

Doubvle entendre intended.

Oh.

So the statement stands on its merits you just don’t want him to post it?

What isn’t liberal about wanting to suppress free speech?

Hey Condi—how about some “compassion” for the two year old girl run over by a drunk “immigrant” here in Muncie just last week.
The drunk, name of Chavez, fled the scene and was arrested hiding at home. The little girl had a broken leg and internal injuries, I’m not sure about her prognosis.
How many more of these horror stories do we have to experience before the federal government starts doing its job: enforcing its own laws, instead of hindering the states from trying to protect their citizens while federal mouthpieces flap their gums about “compassion” for immigrants?
How about trying to win the support of taxpaying American citizens, instead of worrying about what the lawbreaking “immigrants” think? Until you do that, you and your fellow GOP-e swells can KMA!
