Clint Eastwood To Speak At Republican Convention on Thursday: Fox News

Clint Eastwood will be speaking at the Republican Convention in Tampa on Thursday according to Fox News. The network’s website is reporting that a GOP source confirmed “that Eastwood is indeed the mystery speaker”. Thursday night’s line-up has a “To Be Announced” speaker scheduled ahead of Senator Marco Rubio and GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney himself. Eastwood’s name was floated earlier this week as the speaker along with former VP nominee Sarah Palin, Donald Trump and even a hologram of former President Ronald Reagan. No stranger to politics, Eastwood served as the Mayor of Carmel, California from 1986 to 1988. He supported John McCain in 2008 and endorsed Mitt Romney earlier this month at a Sun Valley fundraiser. “Now more than ever do we need Mitt Romney, I’m going to be voting for him,” the Oscar winner said as the GOP nominee stood next to him on August 4. If Eastwood is really heading to Tampa to speak Thursday evening, he’s going to have to get going soon. Deadline has learned that as of Wednesday afternoon, the actor/director was still at his home in Carmel. Eastwood’s latest film, Trouble With The Curve comes out on September 21, 2012.

“Maybe this is good politics. There is a segment of the American electorate that is impressed by celebrities and Romney needs their votes. Just what has this man who makes his living pretending to be other people actually accomplished? Somehow wish celebrities could be marginalized and left to the Democrats. However in a democracy everyone has to suffer their influence.”

Agreed! Well said!

Lame? You have to go back even further than the Clint Eastwood era (John Wayne) to find better westerns.

The best western I've seen come out of Hollywood lately is True Grit. It still wasn't as good as John Wayne's original.

WATCH THE FOLLOWING: found this video on www.blackfive.net, a premiere military blog by soldiers, for soldiers. This film has gone viral and you will see why as you watch. THIS IS WHAT THE RNC NEEDS AT THEIR CONVENTION, PERFORMED ON STAGE BY CONSERVATIVES/REPUBLICANS WHO THINK ALIKE, TO SHAKE THE DUST AND CRUST OFF THE REPUBLICAN GOOD OLE BOYS. THIS IS WHAT THE BLACK PANTHERS NEED TO WATCH PERFORMED BY REGULAR FOLKS LIKE US WHEN THEY START SPEWING THEIR HATE AND THREAT PHYSICAL VIOLENCE.

This is a video of the 2nd and 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry, made up of Maori and non-Maori New Zealander soldiers as they perform the HAKA, in a farewell to a fallen comrade lost recently in Afghanistan. The HAKA is a Maori warrior dance performed for different occasions, to show respect, honor and strength. It can be performed for burials, celebrations, sports events, etc. It is immensely stirring, and shows strength and fierce concentration and passion.

Go to www.blackfive.net. On the left side of the page, scroll down to the 12th post, “Kiwis Give A Farewell Haka to a Fallen Comrade.” Watch the video and read the comments at the end of the post made by soliders. Watch the Haka performed at a soccer match by the New Zealand soccer team before the game begins.

And pass it on...Paul Ryan would love to see this. This guy is a warrior!

RE PLan 9:

That has been called “the worst movie of all time” in every place I’ve seen the title mentioned.

I remember it from Saturday Afternoon Chiller Theater on UHF stations...

Yeah, Bela Lugosi went from the horror icon Dracula down to a mere caricature. A shame...I believe he was actually buried in his Dracula costume because he loved that role so much.

As for Joan Collins taking her clothes off...well...

Nice rack...back in the day!!! (couldn’t resist)....

“...especially after roast beast ...”

It was that marinade they used, and it wasn’t MY fault that all the little Whos in Whoville were lethally allergic to methane...

It was, after all, just ONE little blast o’ gas...

We saw the ad so it was made, and Eastwood is a very, very liberal republican, and Reagan got along with most people, including Tip O’Neil.

Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand and so many others are highly accomplished figures in their lifetime film industry endeavors, it isn’t usually meaningful in conservative politics.

What is your point in feeling like you’ve proved something, about Clint Eastwood?

Eastwood is a great entertainer; in a class far above Fonda and Streissand.

If Eastwood is not the “mystery speaker” we will all have wasted time and energy over nothing; so I will go no further.

“I also think that she’ll run for the Senate as an Arizonian. I believe she’ll be endorsed by McCain as his successor when he retires, probably after he completes his present term. I think this is why she’s describing him in such glowing terms these days.”

Hadn’t thought of the possibility of her running after McCain retires, which could be a distinct possibility; however, she better buy a home in Arizona soon to establish residency and make Alaska her secondary home, if this is the path she wishes to follow. Otherwise she would be looked upon as a carpetbagger if she doesn’t park herself in some fashion in Arizona in the near future.

I don’t know what your point is.

All I posted was this when you described him as “libertarian”—I said, “”Meaning a Hollywood liberal that shares republican economic ideas.
Eastwood did that pro Obama ad during the Super Bowl. “”

What is the big deal?

Governor Palin is delivering for us some of the greatest conservative victories in history, and is the incredibly effective leader of the conservative movement, and you have missed all this? You think that she “moved on” when she came down to the lower 48 to help create and lead our movement, and reshape the congress and Senate and add the national muscle to the tea party?

You better bury Ned right!... Better not cut up, nor otherwise harm no whores...(long pause)...or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons of bitches.

RE :”RE PLan 9:

That was a Edward D. Wood, Jr. movie. His fame was making the worst lowest budget camp movies of all time, great to watch with friends in college when you are drinking.

Bella died before finished his scenes in Plan 9 so a stand-in walked around with a cape covering his face to fill in the movie. Add you can see the strings holding up the paper plate flying saucers.

Wood also hired Legosi to play in Bride of the Monster and in the final scene he falls onto a huge rubber Octopus that doesn't move and he screams "AHHHH", it's a classic camp film. By then Bella was addicted to pills or drugs.

Legosi’s most famous known role was Dracula in Abbott and Costello meet Frankstein 1948. That also starred Lon Cheney JR, another famous Monster actor who later fell on hard times. Karloff on the other hand always had a good career, his was the voice in the 1960s cartoon "How the Ginch Stole..." .

” Karloff on the other hand always had a good career, his was the voice in the 1960s “

Karloff and Peter Lorre both had good runs.

It will be front and center on the news. People will come for Clint and get a dose of Mitt. Kind of like beef jerky and cottage cheese. But some folks go for that.

You have to try to appeal to the middle - that’s where elections are won. Eastwood is a good choice for this.

I'm hoping Chief Dan George is somewhere in the hall.

"Now spit."

I know, I know, he died 30 years ago.
