Rove makes Akin murder joke

In a closed-door fundraiser at the Republican National Convention, Karl Rove reportedly joked about the murder of Missouri GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin.

“We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!” joked Rove, according to a Businessweek report of the fundraiser.

Sheelah Kolhatkar, an editor for Bloomberg Businessweek, was invited to the event as a guest of top Republican donor who was aware she was a journalist. The invite gave her a behind-the-scenes look at the otherwise-private event.

At the event, Rove urged attendees to urge Akin to get out of the race, citing Missouri’s Senate race as a major obstacle to Republicans taking over the Senate.

“We have five people who are interested” in replacing Akin as the Senate candidate, Rove said. “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.”

Rove and other top Republicans called on Akin to leave the race after his controversial comments two weeks ago on “legitimate rape” and his mistaken comment about how conception through rape rarely occurs.

Yes, I want Akin gone. Gone because of the damage he has done to the pro-life movement and damage across the country. He handed the pro-aborts a gift that will keep on giving until November.

That is why I pinged you. You have been as vocal about getting rid of Akin as anyone on this forum. If you don't want to get pinged to Akin threads, then don't comment on them. I for one am going to do what I can to see that he gets elected. That will be a giant victory for the pro-life movement because it will show that even pro-life candidates who put their foot in their mouths can beat establishment republicans and democrats in battleground states.

What Rove said here is not only worse than what Akin said, but it could be considered a crime. If he had said the same thing about Obama, then he'd be getting a visit from the Secret Service about now.

Rove wants Akin replaced by a liberal Republican clone of himself. He wants a yes man for Romney's agenda. Anyone who replaces Akin, be it as a result of his resignation or his murder, will be a GOP-E social liberal in the mold of Rove.

You didn’t ping me about an Akin article. That would have been fine. (even though I already saw it) You pinged me with a sentence: “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get Akin out.” I didn’t make that statement and do not believe that statement. Don’t try to attach it to me. That is what pissed me off.

Jebbie finally talked on Thursday; he tied Boehner for the worst speech of the convention. He kept talking about “education” but never mentioned the failed “No Child Left Behind.” Wonder why?

I have been trying for years to get Republicans to recognize that Karl Rove is a veritable albatross around the party's neck. He may have a phenomenal memory; he is analytically deficient. He is responsible for the defeats in 2006 & in part for what happened in 2008.

See, for example, Rove Directed Republican Disaster.

One can only hope that Gov. Romney will not listen to any advice from this would be comedian! He is neither wise nor funny.

Ashcroft is probably first in the alphabet on a long list of treacherous former conservative Republicans who most believe are still “conservative.”

What I find remarkable is how so many FReepers can be so vocal in their hatred of the GOP-E in general, and Romney in particular, and yet be fully supportive of the GOP-E and Romney in their quest to force Akin out of the race.

Simple explanation: unlike Akin these FReepers don't make mistakes, at least not "serious" ones.

See my post #126, and the link that deals with Rove as the albatross that he has been around the neck of Republicans. He impresses many with his memory of statistics. He has no demonstrated analytic ability, and has cost us many an election.

Here is another piece on Rove: Rove Revisited.

Rove's witless specialty is alienating potential voters in ways that persist. He does not just make mistakes; he does long term damage.

I think he's a turkey, too. But I think I've forgiven him, and want to see him demolish McCaskill. Especially since Rove was so careful to keep anyone from thanking the Tea Party for giving them the Congressional majority.

I think I'd like to remind Tubby who brung him to the dance in the first place.

No kidding Rove! “We don’t care who the nominee is, other than get the conservative out.”

Barton (of Beck fame)

Wrong. Barton is of his own fame. Most conservatives knew about Barton before beck showed on the scene. There are many conservatives out there that TV watchers don't know about.

But was this 'top donor' aware of her politically association?

Where are the calls for his resignation???
###

Where are the calls for a full investigation?
Why hasn’t he been fired from Fox?
Why hasn’t the FBI picked him up and questioned him?
Why hasn’t the Republican establishment denounced him?
Why weren’t his convention credentials revoked?
