Todd Akin’s Senate Campaign Maybe Picking Up Steam
FOX2now ^ | September 3, 2012 | Charles Jaco

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – Rep. Todd Akin’s “insurgent” campaign against both Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and the leaders of his own party may not be the long shot it’s been portrayed, despite the national furor over Akin’s comments on The Jaco Report that women who are victims of “legitimate rape” have natural defenses against becoming pregnant.

A pair of polls taken after the incident and the following uproar either show Akin with a lead over McCaskill, or indicate the race is tied. The latest survey from Public Policy Polling, taken August 29, shows McCaskill leading Akin 45% to 44%, well within the poll’s margin of error. Another poll released the same day by the staunchly anti-abortion Family Research Council shows Akin ahead 45% to 42%.

In addition, Akin has picked up there de-facto endorsement of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who told NBC’s Meet the Press that Akin was nominated by a plurality of voters in the Missouri GOP primary, and that since Akin has apologized, it’s time “….to move on.”

I am sending money tomorrow. He has narrowed the gap back to close what it was before. If he hasn’t withdrawn by now I doubt that he will in the future.

Akin was up by 10. Now you're depending on a Democrat polling firm to tell you Akin's ahead? Or a special interest group invested in Akin's candidacy for their own purposes? Why would you believe them?

Amen, I am sick of the elites like Rove, Ann “Bill Maher” Coulter, Noonan, and Bohner, they all sip cocktails with their “good friends” Pelosi, Reid and other Democrat celebrities, yet they conspire against this nation. If Romney wins, he had better not sing kumbaya with Pelosi and Reid, I am sick of the Republicans working with the Democrats only to have a knife placed in their collective backs. When the Republicans are out of power, the Democrats accomplish their goals all while Republican elites cry and say it’s for the good and health of the nation that we compromise, BS! The Democrats have stuffed their agenda down our throats without nary a whimper from the RINOs, it’s time it stopped!

Next time something like this happens to a conservative candidate, the GOP needs to pull all the stops and go full throttle on supporting and funding him.

Akin was targeted by the machine of political correctness, and among the casualties were many conservatives. Including Limbaugh. (I still have a soft spot for Rush, even though he sold out to the elites.)

And many other conservatives, posters on this site, who don’t normally seem to fall for the leftist assault on language were burned by this thing. Just goes to show that we need to be extremely vigilant for leftist trickery.

Gonna be a lot of folks with mud in their eye if Mr. Akin has the audacity to pull this one off.

Including many reading this right now...

This is good news....I think its time for the Pro-Abort Liberals, GOPe, GOP Media, Karl Rove, and George Soros....to get lost.

Akin was smart not to listen to all the PhonyCons telling him to drop out. Real Conservatives felt he should stay, and knew that he would still beat McCaskill

Akin was up by 10.

Akin was never up by 10.

He was up by 3 per the last Rasmussen poll before the kerfluffle.

Ann Coulter, whom I used to admire, called him a “selfish swine” whom she “officially hates.” By winning, Akin will show the world that Annie pulled a humbug.

Ann Coulter attacks only conservatives now

She went after “Birthers” instead of Obama on the Eligibility issue. She supports Log Cabin/Homosexual GOP (she is like the “Liza Minelli” of the GayGOP crowd).

I cannot believe there are still people who think Ann Coulter is “conservative” when in fact she is just another Northeast Liberal

I’ve been pointing out how Coulter is just another Ivy League hack who has been living large on peddling her schtick to conservatives.

Actions speak louder than her words, and her actions say she’s not conservative.

I never thought he was really up by ten. Mo senate campaigns have been very close for several cycles. Most things like this blow away given enough time before the election. Two months is plenty of time.

. I am surprised at how a lot of establishment Republicans seem to have something against Todd Akin and are doing their best to make this into an unprecedented attack against an elected nominee. I think they know he can’t be bought or controlled and maybe they are also making an example of him as a warning to any other candidate who is unafraid to discuss social issues. If you let just one of those into the senate who knows? Maybe the rest might start acting like they have a backbone. They can’t have that.

Screw them.

Even more reason to help him even if he didn’t have a chance.

Few can withstand the pressure he faces.

...Ha...Many from the Founders on have done so....

Akin is made of sterner stuff than the GOPe...

To put all this in context in terms of the survival of our Republic:

take a look at:

here we have a defining moment of the 2012 campaign. those of us who read his quote (and saw the attacks by the republican machine for what they were) and came to the immediate defense of todd akin are true and trustworthy conservatives in my book. those who didn’t, well they won’t ever receive my trust again. period (akin.org).

“No thanks to Karl Rove and the GOPe. GO TODD!”

Me too. The fact that Akin may recover from this should give Obama an idea of just how much he’s hated right now.

After the GOP establishment, that attacked men as stupid, tried to throw him under the bus.

F*ck them! Sometimes you gotta be vulgar to tell them what you really think of their jihading for the Democrats.

People misspeak. At least Akin didn’t blame all women like Mitt Happen’s wife last week tried to blame all men!

I made a decision to send him money this weekend.

Akin said what he said and apologized. A politician here in Pennsylvania made similar comments in the 1980’s and backed away from them and continued his career.

Ask Greg Kelly in New York (Local Fox TV host there and former Irag war reporter for Fox News Channel) about “legitimate rape.”

A woman falsely accused him of rape earlier this year and then there’s the famous Dominique Strauss-Kahn case in the Big Apple.

Women can and do lie about rape..........

You were a knee jerk scared little reactionary over Akin’s comments, just admit it!! You were wrong calling for his head.
Now when he’s showing he’s back in the race and even winning you wanna mark it up to a conspiracy by a lib pollster.
What’s it like to live in a reality where saying “I was wrong and I made a mistake” never happens? In general the tone of most of your posts on any subject are rude and mean anyway. So whatever to you!
