Now that Elvis has left the building Bill Clinton having delivered the seventh major convention speech of his political lifetime a favorite media guessing game is what previous embattled Democratic president Barack Obama might channel on Thursday night.
Its safe to assume it wont be Mr. Clinton, whose centrist tack and upbeat economic report in his 1996 acceptance speech (text and video) has no relevance in the current presidency. And thats one of the underlying ironies of Clintons appearance on Wednesday night Obama threw the Clinton presidency under the bus in 2008 by denouncing its hyper-partisan nature; in 2012, frenemy Clinton was asked to ride the Obamas rescue.
Who, then, will Obama channel?

Malaise Daze are here again!
One loser helping another loser.
Make that TWO. Bubba is there to “carry the load” of utter bovine excrement.
Trotsky?
I watched it down here in Australia. So, was this a rehash from one of his earlier speeches brought up to date? I wish I could get Rush at an earlier time than 3am here. I’m sure he’d have a good analysis of it.
We’ll have to hope the females of America don’t allow themselves to be ensnared by the ‘gay black man fantasy’ thing again like they were in 2008. The ‘sexually deviant impeached president’ thing tonight was damaging enough.
About the only Dem president he hasn't channeled is Martin Van Buren ..... aka Martin Van Ruin
Well, it was a good speech overall by Clinton...preached right to the choir he did. Gotta give him that. What Democrat voters need to understand is...he isn’t running. 0bama doesn’t have any rabbits left in his hat.
Who will say to him...I knew Billy Jeff Clinton...and you are no Billy Jeff.
For them, the afterglow of the Clinton speech will be gone within days...and all that is left is the fading 0bama poster on the wall. *sigh*. My bet is that a hearty majority of them sit this one out.
From a non-partisan perspective, Clinton’s speech sucked. He deliberately made a sub-par speech to save face among his colleagues while making sure that he was not going to be tied to the sinking ship. His speech went on waaaay too long, was too vague, and some of his figures and statements didn’t ring true. Thanks Bill, you failed to energize the Dim base one iota... and that’s just what we wanted :)
Charles Krauthammer just repeated my analysis on Fox News, which is that Clinton failed to give a rousing endorsement of Obama, but rather got the delegates all fired-up over how great it would be if he could just have a 3rd term...
He screwed Obmaa, but good! Every delegate is going to think back about how great Clinton was. And then try to convince themselves that Obama is just like Clinton...except he’s not. They won’t even be sure he’s better than Jimmy Carter.
ROTF!
Just a little video to put Jimma' Carter into perspective for 0bama!
Does this mean Yvonne Elliman will be on the radio again?
Ted Kennedy sank Jimmy Carter in his speech in 1980, he didn’t say a word about Carter, but about what the Democratic Party should fight for.....everybody in that building afterward knew that they should have nominated Kennedy instead of Carter.....it was the one good thing the Swimmer did.
Yes, that was one of his more useful speeches for the dem choir (including MSNBC)...it would have even been a useful speech if it was Obama delivering it tomorrow. Clinton isn't running for election, this speech doesn't get them anywhere when reality hits tomorrow.
Interesting to see Obama run out on stage when the Clinton applause started so Clinton couldn't soak it up for himself. Obama literally had to pull him off stage in the end, Clinton ran back out to give someone a hug and Obama came back after him. They also programmed Michelle to applause and stand up whenever the cameras were on her to make it look like the Clintons and Obamas are in sync. They are not.
Hey... Does anybody know if Clinton gave a speech?
Just kidding. I actually heard 2 minutes of it. Bill is a very good speaker, has good timing, and can lie with the best of them.
The question is, what was Bill trying to accomplish....to make himself look good, or Obama look good, he might have succeeded on Number #1, but that’s not what Obama wanted him there for.
Aren't most of them ? And I don't mean just Bill Clinton.
Perhaps it's because the country has the same old issues, or because the issues have never been solved.
I agree. I think any intelligent and calm person would agree.
What Democrat voters need to understand is...he isnt running.
Excellent response.
0bama doesnt have any rabbits left in his hat.
Well.............. Hillary is out of town. I mean WAY out of town.
