Primatene Mist Breakthrough!!!
A. Abramson ^ | 09/10/2012 | savecfcinhalers.org

I received an eMail with the following information:

"... both WALMART and CVS PHARMACIES should now have available a brand new, over-the-counter EPINEPHRINE ASTHMA INHALER, called ASTHMANEFRIN, sold by NEPHRON PHARMACEUTICALS

Please address any questions to them at 855-999-3926.

No, this is NOT PRIMATENE MIST, but it has the SAME ACTIVE INGREDIENT as Primatene Mist, EPINEPHRINE, and BEST OF ALL, UNLIKE PRIMATENE MIST, IT HAS NO ETHANOL!"

If Albuterol is a lot safer than epinephrine then you should lobby to make in OTC.

There needs to be an over the counter medication of this sort. If not Albuterol, then epinephrine will have to do.

Pretty lame analogy..........

I can assure you more people have died from Primatene Mist during my healthcare career..than died from water intox.

Lame eh?

The analogy was an appropriate one considering your sly innuendo that people are incapable of being responsible for their own actions.

“mission” cute ... another sly innuendo. Alinksky would be proud.

My “mission” is to pass on information that FReepers may find useful and may not find elsewhere.

Don’t worry about it. Some of us appreciate the information. :)

Albuterol is safer, but in the event of a serious asthma attack, I’ll take epinephine over the current alternative. I’ve had attacks that came on so fast and severe that it’s frightening.

Well that's fine.

I've personal and professional experience with the subject. And what I've said is true.

Don't know why you seem to want to be antagonistic.

BTW....you spelled Alinsky wrong....: )

Bad stuff with just the avg. asthmatic that thinks 25-50 puffs of Primatene Mist will make them okay.

Cool ... another sly innuendo ala Alinsky. You seem to prefer governmental micro managing medical consumers access to choice in medical care to education.

Epinephrine has been available over-the-counter only because it was already available before the FDA started regulating prescription drugs. It has nothing to do with safety or effectiveness. I understand the problems people have with the cost of medical care, but I don't believe that a medicine as potent as albuterol should be available over-the-counter. It really needs to be monitored by a care provider.
