RCP Poll: Virginia Poll: R 49%, 0 44%
RCP ^ | 9-11-12

Posted on 09/11/2012 12:56:41 PM PDT by Arthurio

On the days of September 8th and 9th, Gravis Marketing, a non-partisan research company, and Capitol Correspondent conducted a survey of 2,238 likely voters in the state of Virginia. The survey covered the same questions as the August survey, which comprised questions regarding the presidential election, Virginia’s senate race, the direction of the United States, and the effect of a libertarian candidate on Romney and Obama. Overall, from August to the most recent survey, Obama’s 44% to 40% lead has turned into a Romney lead of 49% to 44% in the most recent poll. Interestingly, Obama didn’t lose votes, rather Romney gained previously unsure voters or voters that previously planned on voting for a different candidate.

Who is Ahead in the Senate?

“Could it be that many of us here in the trenches will not talk to a pollster? That only the idle, loose-lipped folks have the time and inclination to respond?”

I’m getting called two and three times a week. I refuse to speak to them. Do I know who they are or what their motivations are? NO.

“OK, OK I’m putting my cyanide pill down...”

I’ll tell you a little secret about Virginia...don’t tell anyone...it’s NOT a swing state. I expect it to break hard one way or the other. Some things to about VA for the VA challenged:

-We have multiple elections every year. It’s a paradise for political junkies.

-It’s a chummy place. Most everyone seems to know most everyone else. Things tend to be done by broader consensus than in other places I’ve lived. Not necessarily for the Commonwealth as a whole, but in large groups. Once “the decision” is made, look for things to break hard one way or the other.

-Church matters. Greatly.

-The eastern district of VA is *the* Federal court of choice for terrorists, malcreants, pirates, bushwackers, and all around scum. There’s a reason for that.

LOL! Someone after my own heart.

Tell you what. I don’t think VA is going to be all that close. VA is not a swing state in my view. Just fickle and ornery. It’ll break hard one way or the other. But it’ll probably be a little longer before that happens.

IF on the off chance that it looks like it really will be very close, rest assured that while I dislike willard (understatement of the day) I have no desire to act the spoiler. So let me look at the legalities and I’ll think about it if it’s looking like a probability.

I somewhat agree with you. In any presidential election the Dems vote for the Democrat and pubbies vote for the Republican. There are only a few people to fight over at this point. Those are the independents. They vote for the person not the party. Those are the votes that will swing the election along with the base that is the most fired up and gets the most members to the polls. Right now I would say the Republicans are the most fired up.

I look for Barry’s dead cat bounce to end by next week.

Every poll should be analyzed down to its fundamentals - EVERY poll. This poll’s credibility is just as suspect on its face as those showing The Disaster ahead.

So I ask you AGAIN why do you believe polls that are designed to mislead?

It isn’t as though this is something the Enemamedia has just come up with or never used before or that they are hard to analyze.

I have no double standard. But I do have standards.

look, you seem to be missing the point ~ there not only are NO independents, there can be no independents.

If you manage to live in this country outside of some social or economic structure that intersects with one of the two major parties, you are simply not in touch ~ not that you are an independent ~ you are a HERMIT ~ and you do not vote at all!

Old Kent doesn’t bother with anything like fact and reasons, Like all good little Progressive Fascists his only response is to scream hysterically at anyone who points out the inconvenient truths that conflict with his emotion based dogmas

Unless you're posting the exact same comment on all of the threads where his supporters are claiming that Poll [XYZ] really, truly shows that Mittens is actually winning, yippee, boy howdy: I'm afraid your double standard may be showing, here.

This poll’s credibility is just as suspect on its face as those showing The Disaster ahead.

My point. Thank you. ;)

there can be no independents.

Oh really then how come in the USA, where Democrat party registration is higher then GOP party registration, did we elect Reagan 2xs, Bush2nd 2xs and Bush 1st 1x?

Why haven’t you answered my question?

If you had read the thread you would have seen my first comment was about the internals of this poll. Thus, you would not have made a ridiculous assumption regarding my bias. Or assumed I would place anymore credence in this poll than others.

Well you and I don’t feel that way but there are independents out there. Its just naive to say there are not. This go around I believe most of them have already decided to vote for Romney. At this point you and I cannot conceive that anybody has not made up their mind but they are out there and I have not yet come up with a plan for genetic eradication.

If you genuinely believe you can dispassionately provide evidence of my being a "Progressive Fascist," then by all means forward it here.

I'll happily stake my decade's tenure here -- and my standing with JimRob -- against anything you care to provide.

Good luck with that. ;)

My point. Thank you. ;)

No Kent, your point is any poll that does not validate your emotional based opinions about Romney is immediately claimed "suspect" with utterly NO data to back up your opinion but any poll that validates your opinion is taken as gospel. Yours is one of the worst cases of projection I have seen in quite a while.

You cling to that opinion no matter how many people point out to you that the sample in the polls you want to believe is not a realistic measure.

Then to top off your emotional projection, you scream "denial" at anyone who points out the flawed reasoning in your postings.

Your posts are long on emotion and bile and short on fact and reason. And the cherry on the top is your arrogant posturing as if you bothered to actually think about these things rather then react with pure emotion.

Why haven’t you answered my question?

I just have, actually. (See above.) You're simply unhappy with the content of said answer, for whatever reason(s) passing my understanding.

You're plainly fishing for some very specific sort of response, above and beyond that already provided. Re-phrase your request, then -- without all the additional foot-stamping and whatnot -- and we'll see if there's some further way I might possibly accommodate you. I respond better to reason than I do to silly ranting and raving.

Or don't. I sleep just as soundly tonight, either way. ;)

Again: make your case here (whatever it might happen to be, and to the best of your abilities), re: my behavior and postings here, and let's see which way the chips happen to fall.

I'm perfectly comfortable with that. Show or fold. ;)
