Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri issued an audiotape this week that calls for the kidnapping of citizens of countries fighting Islamic terrorism to faciliate a prisoner exchange.
Zawahiri's call came on the eve of the anti-American Million Muslim March and 'day of rage' in Cairo and other Arab capitals on Friday.
Zawahiri's remarks were translated and posted by MEMRI.
Ayman Al-Zawahiri: "Allah willing, he (American hostage Warren Weinstein) will not win his freedom until our prisoners are free, and first and foremost, Omar Abd Al-Rahman, Aafia Sidiqqui, Hasnaa, the widow of Abu Hamza Al-Muhajir, and Khaled Sheik Muhammad.
"We urge Muslims to capture citizens of countries that fight the Muslims in order to release the Muslim prisoners." [...]
The tape was released to mark the 11th anniversary of al Qaeda's terrorist attack on the U.S. mainland that murdered nearly 3,000 people.
Zawahiri also called on followers to take advantage of "American weakness."
"Our message to the peoples of the Islamic and Arab nation is that they should use this moment of American weakness to purify their countries of the corrupt and corrupting rulers. [...]
"They should topple the Western proxies left in our countries, and especially the Saud clan and the Gulf sheiks in the Arabian Peninsula, as well as the sons of France in the Islamic Maghreb.
"Sheikh Osama bin Laden, Allah's mercy upon him, said time and again that the fact that the U.S. holds Muslims and their scholars captive – and especially Sheik Omar Abd Al-Rahman – constitutes crime and aggression against the Islamic nation. Allah granted us the success of capturing the American Jew Warren Weinstein."
The tape does not appear to reference the current round of attacks on American embassies in Arab Muslim countries, but its release comes at a time when crowds of angry Muslims are scaling the walls of embassy compounds and have already killed four Americans in Libya, including the U.S. ambassador.
In 1979, Iranian Muslims stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran and took embassy staffers hostage. They were held for 444 days.

I hate to inform the Congressman, but a MODERATE muslim is a muslim who is OUT OF AMMO.
Looks like the FBI might be worried the Tea Party could recruit based on this... Face it, the only enemy the Obama Administration recognizes is conservatives. Other groups can slaughter citizens (Chicago) or break our laws (illegal immigrants) but the only people the Administration fears is traditional Americans.
Maybe the FBI should back up their paranoia with some numbers. Lots of liberal newspapers are more than ready to use hard numbers to trash conservative Americans. If they’ve got something - they need to share it. Put your cards on the table for all to see. In short, we’re calling your bluff. Show the cards or quit using these tactics to intimidate conservative citizens. If you guys don’t have the names or phone numbers of members of the press, I’m sure I can find some... But here’s an easier way....
ABC hates conservatives - so does MSNBC and NBC - if you’ve got something - go to them. They’ll investigate. They’ll see how real the fear is... really please... that’s what the press is there for...
And why is it that we have heard nothing from Mitt Romney about this? I would like to know what he would do about the attack of an American embassy, American territory and sovereign. This is legally an act of war. All the muzzie nations need to be told that if they will not protect American embassies, by any means necessary, that they will pay the appropriate penalties. Don’t think these barbarians didn’t learn a lesson when they stormed the embassy in Tehran and saw our weakness. If they don’t pay a penalty, they will continue to do the same. As I learned in my IR class, you increase the penalty until the other side is no longer willing to pay the price for their actions.
