Zogby: Romney Running Worse Than McCain in 08 Thursday, 13 Sep 2012 06:05 PM
President Barack Obama received a surprisingly strong bounce after the Democratic National Convention, and now leads GOP challenger Mitt Romney by nearly 6 points according to a new JZ Analytics poll.
The national poll of likely voters shows Obama leading 47.7 percent to 42 percent, and indicates that Romney is not polling well enough among some conservative demographic groups: NASCAR fans, evangelicals, and the so-called Walmart voters.
According to JZ Analytics pollster John Zogby, Romney is in a somewhat worse position than GOP nominee Sen. John McCain was at this point in the 2008 campaign...
In a possible indication that Romney has yet to seal the deal with the GOP base, Zogby reports lackluster poll numbers among NASCAR voters, evangelicals, and frequent Walmart patrons -- groups that tend to be reliably conservative.
Romney leads Obama 48.4 to 44.6 percent among voters who shop weekly at Walmart. He [Romney] narrowly trails Obama among self-identified NASCAR fans, 44 percent to 43 percent.
Thats a number you would never expect to see, comments Zogby.
Among born again voters, Romney leads Obama by 57 percent to 32 percent. That compares to the 73 percent of evangelical/born again voters McCain carried in 2008, according to the Pew Center on Religion and Public Life...
Zogby also describes Obamas numbers as anemic among 18 to 29 year-olds. Only 53 percent of those younger voters said they would vote for Obama over Romney -- some 13 points less than Obamas advantage among that demographic in 2008 against GOP standard bearer Sen. John McCain...

Yet Romney is doing much worse than McCain among “evangelicals”
Sadly, no matter what, many Evangelicals will not vote for a Mormon.
Considering that this quote is from the Washington Compost, but there is some substance to it:
“Many social conservatives warned during the GOP primary that Romney would struggle to spark evangelical enthusiasm. Fewer conservative Christians would volunteer to canvass neighborhoods, donate money or plan rallies, they said.
The Pew poll indicates such fears may be warranted. Among the nearly 23 percent of evangelicals who are uncomfortable with Romneys Mormonism, just 16 percent back him strongly.”

Zogby is the worst pollster out there bar none...he predicted a blowout victory for Kerry in ‘04 and if memory serves me, he had McCain in it till the end in ‘08....i look at this as good news considering zogby’s record...
I seem to recall reading here at FR that the polls had Carter leading Reagan until right up before the election. The pollsters are going to do their best to create the momentum for Hussein as long as they can until it gets so late that they have to start being accurate or they’ll completely lose their credibility.
A lot of FReepers have been asking where Zogby has been this year.....Well, HE’S BAAAAAACK!
Well we know that Hussein’s people threatened Gallup, I’m sure the other polling companies got the message.
Real Clear Politics doesn’t even include Zogby!
Thanks for this list
I am a Christian and I am voting for Romney and Ryan.
Would more Christians vote for a Muslim over a Mormon?
Zogby....noted arab sympathizer who long ago became a lap dog of the left....no longer of interest to any one who really follows quality pollsters
Muslim? No. Christian Arab? Yes. idiot? Yes. Muslim sympathizer? Yes.
Which independent auditing agency does Rush use that gives him a current rating of being right 99.6% of the time?
I believe he showed Bush carrying CA in 2000 and Gore carrying NC - and consistently had Gore’s base of strength in his national polls being the South.
The Washington Compost are liars-I frequent a forum of which the members are the most fundy of the fundies and every single one of them is voting for Romney. I’ll beleive the words from the horse’s own mouth over the Washington Compost’s wishful thinking.
Also, post-election surveys showed that during the McCain/Obama election, it wasn’t social conservatives/fundamentalists who stayed home and didn’t vote for McCain. The canard that social conservatives and fundamentalists won’t vote for anyone except another fundamentalist needs to be put to rest.
I am a Catholic woman and am voting for Romney and Ryan. In fact, if the polls showed Obozo ahead by a wide margin it would just make me more determined to get others out to vote for them too.
From guess who:
Zogby is an Arabic surname.
James Zogby (born 1945), American founder and president of the Arab American Institute and brother of John Zogby.
John Zogby (born 1948), American pollster, president & CEO of Zogby International and brother of James Zogby
And on election day, regardless of my reticence about Romney, my dedication to my country will forbid me from staying home or voting for the current Marxist Muslim in chief. I will vote to save my country, as best I can with the choices I have.
Zogby and the other pollsters apparently don't understand that we can say we don't like Romney on x issue, but we will still vote for him because we refuse to guarantee our own destruction with another 4 years of Obama.
The only poll that matters is on election day. May God Help us. Please!
If you believe that you need to be institutionalized.
If this is true, I also saw a poll that more blacks are supporting Romney lol
